History

After the 2020 coup d'état that established the republican government in Richensland, Ryan became the first president but only resigned fifteen days later. Then vice president Nyck Bradaten assumed the presidency. Under his first presidency, he called the nation's first presidential election in February 2021. The next elections were to be held in 2023, but were rescheduled for 2027 when term limits were expanded from two years to six years.

However, after the 2022 government crisis and the passage of a new constitution, presidential elections were rescheduled for 2023. This was because term limits were reverted to two years. The new constitution mandated that presidential elections must take place in October every two years but in order to end the rule of the then government junta, an early election was held in January that year as well. The October 2023 election was never held as the nation dissolved on 5 June 2023.

Electoral system

The president and vice president were elected in direct elections. The candidates with the highest votes won the position. The elections have always been held for a span of five days, allowing voters to vote for an extended period of time.

The president and vice president were elected separately, and could come from different parties.
