New Linwick County, commonly known as New Linwick, Was formed on the 31 May 2022 as a County of the State of Stret Merdhin, it has a Unitary Authority with limited powers for outsider relations.

Etymology

The name "New Linwick" comes from a mix of English and Cornish backgrounds, it was first chosen by the first leader of New Linwick County in 2022.

History

New Linwick County was first formed in 2022 after a devolution deal was agreed with the 2022 Stretish Government leading to a County Council with Unitary Authority powers.

Devolution 2022

In the year of 2022 with the formation of New Linwick County a Devolution Deal was granted to form the New Linwick County Council to provide local services to the people of the County with limited powers, this was an long anticipated deal from the people of New Linwick County.

Devolution 2023

In the year of 2023 another Devolution Deal was granted to the County to grant the powers of Local Services like Library Services, Bus Franchising and Water and Gas Control with the Adult Education Budget.

Devolution 2024

In the year of 2024 yet another Devolution Deal was granted to expand the New Linwick County Council from 10 seats to 20 seats with the permission to introduce party politics, and moving the council from a FPTP to an STV system.

Mainland

New Linwick County is made up of 2 Towns and 5 Villages all small in size without any Town or Parish Governments, The New Linwick County Council deals with all issues for the areas and service's for the people of the areas, Because of the small size of New Linwick County they are only entitled to 5 MP's to the Royal Government from the County with wards splitting Towns and Villages.

Economy

New Linwick County shares the same national economy that Stret Merdhin uses, this is based on the SPS Currency, GBP Currency and some other national currencies.

The population of New Linwick County has a majority of Celtic People with 15 of the population being Cornish and other minorities in New Linwick County being Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Breton.

New Linwick County has a franchised Bus Service managed by the New Linwick County Council with partial funding coming from the Royal Government of Stret Merdhin, People in New Linwick County can use the Bus Service free of charge regardless of age.
