The Minister of Defence and War, commonly referred to the Minister of Defence, was the minister that was assigned matters of national defence and military importance. The Minister was also the chief executive of the Ministry of Defence and War.
History
The office of Minister of Defence and War was created after the Republic of Ballinfoyleburg was declared independent on 18 December 2021. Ludwig Collins was appointed the first Minister by President Ivan Ryan upon independence. Collins was also appointed commander in chief of the People's Defence Forces.
On 13 January 2022, Ivan Ryan resigned as President, and was replaced by then Vice President Ludwig Collins became President of Ballinfoyleburg, keeping the Defence and War Ministry as well. On 15 March 2022, Jan Kotoński was appointed by Ludwig Collins to succeed him in the post.
Duties and role
The minister was the head of the Ministry of Defence and War, responsible for administration of the People's Defence Forces, the armed forces.
They were also a member of the Council of Ministers, who was presided over by the President.
