Historia de la República Foral de Draaken

La Foral Republic of Draaken is a micronation with a short history. Before its founding in 2019 as a digital state, it has no history or precedent.

The foundation

The Foral Republic of Draaken was founded on June 25, 2019; when the citizen Draaken took possession of the internet forum and made the Constituent Declaration of the Republic, proclaiming the creation of a forum-type digital micronation on that virtual territory.

After the Constituent Declaration, a Constituent Assembly was established and began work to establish a fundamental rule that organizes the new micronation.

On June 26, a project was presented to the Assembly. The Organic Law of the Republic established which will be the main institutions of the micronation: the President of the Republic, the Assembly and the Government. On July 2, 2019; the Constituent Assembly, unanimously, approved the Organic Law of the Republic.

First Presidency (July 2019-December 2019)

On July 2, the Assembly of the Republic was constituted and, in accordance with the Organic Law of the Republic, began election of the first President of the Republic. The session finished on July 9, when Draaken, a candidate presented by the parliamentary group of Citizen Democratic Action, was unanimously elected.

During the first presidency, the legislative approved the main rules that articulate micronation:

Law 2/19, approved on July 10, of Draakenense Identity Signs, established the micronational flag, coat of arms and anthem.
Law 4/19, approved on September 5, of Citizenship and Civil Rights, regulated the way to access Draakenense nationality and listed rights of citizens.
Law 5/19, approved on October 4, of Micronational Currency, created the micronational currency, the Dragon, divided into 100 dineros, and with a exchange rate of 1 Dragon= 1 Euro.

The Government carried out an important task of establishing diplomatic ties with other micronations and signed treaties of mutual recognition and friendship with the Kingdom of Tinebria (currently Kingdom of Torguesia), Republic of Great Ocean, Pelotucian Republic,Cooperative Republic of Molidia and Kingdom of Helitania. In november 2019 the micronation is admitted as a full member of the OMU

Second Presidency (January 2020-June 2020)

On January 1, 2020, the Assembly of the Republic re-elected the citizen Draaken for a second term as President of the Republic.

During this second term, the President of the Republic proposed some changes in the Organic Law of the Republic to establish a presidential government system. The Government disappeared being replaced by a Council of Ministers, which only had advisory functions. From then until now, the executive power is unipersonal and is exercised by the President of the Republic.

In cultural matters was created the Institute for Micronational Studies (spanish: Instituto de Estudios Micronacionales, IEM), a public center for the study and divulgation of micronationalism.

In foreign affairs, the President signed treaties and the republic established diplomatic relations with República Soberana del Peñón del Cuervo, Rino Island and Woultenland. Also the Foral Republic of Draaken became a member of the CMLOE, a community of Spanish-speaking micronations, on January 2020.

Third Presidency (July 2020- December 2020)

On July 1, 2020, the Assembly of the Republic re-elected the citizen Draaken for a third term as President of the Republic.

In foreign affairs, the President signed treaties and the republic established diplomatic relations with Dianican Confederation, Southern Confederation of Angosvria, Virtual Kingdom of Rotham and Republic of Aswington.
