The president of the Republic is the head of state and head of government of the Foral Republic of Draaken

Article 2 of the Organnic Law of the Republic establishes the executive branch of the government and vests the executive power in the President of the Republic. The power includes the execution of law and the responsibility to appoint ministers.

The president is elected directly through the Assembly of the Republic to a six-month term.

Draaken is the 1st and current President of Republic, having assumed office on july 9, 2019.

Origins

On june 25, 2019 Draaken decides to create a digital micronation and he took possession of an internet forum and made the Constituent Declaration of the Republic, proclaiming the creation of a forum-type digital micronation on that virtual territory. After this, it was necessary to write up a constitution for the new micronation.

In 2019 convened the Constituent Assembly for the purpose of drafting and approving the constitution. The Organic Law of the Republic (Spanish: Ley Organica de la Republica) is the constitution of the Foral Republic of Draaken. It was approved by the Constituent Assembly on July 2, 2019

Functions

The President of the Republic, currently, Draaken, is the head of the draakenish State and symbol of its unity. The President of the Republic is head of the executive branch of government and assumes the highest representation of Foral Republic of Draaken in intermicronational relations.

The President of the Republic may appoint ministers, up to a maximum number of four. These will be freely named and dismissed by the President. The ministers will substitute President of the Republic in case of vacancy, absence or inactivity and will exercise those powers that the President expressly delegates to them

As head of state, the President represents the micronational government to its own people, and represents the micronation to the rest of the world.

The President conducts domestic and foreign policy, civil and military administration, and the defense of the nation. Additionally, the President exercises executive authority and statutory regulations.

Election

The President of the Republic is elected directly by the citizens of micronation through the Assembly of the Republic to a six-month term. The investiture of the President of the Republic takes place on 1 January and 1 July in every year.

Two weeks before the investiture the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic (Spanish: General Secretary of the Assembly of the Republic) opens a period for the presentation of candidates who presents his political agenda in a Speech to be debated. One week before investiture the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic presents the candidates to the Assembly and opens a period to vote the candidates. Members of the Assembly of the Republic (all the citizens of the Foral Republic) cast their vote for a candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins.
