Ludwig Collins, who used to be in the Ballinfoyle Region of Galway City before it seceded as the Republic of Ballinfoyleburg, was appointed Governor and in the executive order 45, the position was made elected, and a provincial assembly was established.
The Governor is the chief executive in Galway City, and is responsible for leading and appointing the Executive Council and promulgating acts of the Assembly. The Governor is assisted by the Lieutenant Governor since the role was created on 25 April 2022.
