The Honourable Evan McDonagh (born Evan McDonagh 23 August 2008), is a retired Irish-Vietnamese micronationalist and coder who served as the 1st Minister of Internet Affairs of Roscamistan. They were one of the first people to join the government, and was for a time the apprentice of Dean Merritt, though they did not participate in the Hanlonite Coup of 2021 against President Thomas Jacobs.
Personal life
McDonagh lives with their family in Ireland, and is an avid fan of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Micronational life
McDonagh became aware of Roscamistan when they heard of it from Thomas Jacobs in April 2021. They became the first Minister for Internet Affairs soon after. In May 2021, they became the apprentice of Dean Merritt, who held much influence over the government at the time. They jokingly attempted to found another nation, called Recistan after a government bill failed to pass. This attempt failed, though was one of the events that led to the 17thMayCoup, which overthrew President Thomas Jacobs, and brought Anthony Hanlon to power.
They were not as active as before during the Hanlon Cabinet, though remained the “apprentice” of Dean Merritt through this time. Upon the return of Thomas Jacobs, changes were made removing collaborators, though was McDonagh kept as Minister for Internet Affairs.
On 14 February 2022, during a coding class at his school, Thomas Jacobs talked to him about MicroWiki. Finding it funny, they said that they would not mind a MicroWiki page on their time in Roscamistan. They would later resign that day from the position of Minister for Internet Affairs, by far one of the longest terms of any minister of over 10 months, spanning nearly most of Roscamistan’s history.
