The Dam Islands, also called the Hillsborough River Dam Islands, are a chain of five small rocky islands in the Hillsborough River that are currently under the control of the Republic of Phillip. Up until the Invasion of the North Hillsborough began in late March, the islands were a part of the United States of America. Since then, they have been conquered by the Phillip Navy. The true size of the islands are hard to determine, but estimates range from ~2,000-1,800 square meters.
Etymology
The Dam Islands were named by Phillip politician and Navy sailor Cooper Norfolk before the beginning of the North Hillsborough Invasion. The name is derived from the island's proximity to the Hillsborough River Dam, which was first built in 1886.[1]
History
Invasion of the Dam Islands
On 26 March 2023, the Military of Phillip officially announced the launch of the invasion. At approximately 8:30 EST, Navy sailor Cooper Norfolk left solo from a public American dock to head to the Dam Islands. Norfolk decided to use the SS Undertimeslopper, a military kayak that is a part of the 1st Phillip Fleet.
The actual invasion itself only lasted around five minutes. Norfolk was able to ride his kayak through the first set of islands, but was unable to reach the second set due to low tide, and he feared that he would potentially harm military property.[2] On return to the first set of islands, Minister Norfolk attempted to land on the westernmost island but was scared away by the presence of a baby alligator.
