Brienovic's System of Micronational Classification
Brienovic's System of Micronational Classification is a chart for representing micropatriological positions on both a two-dimensional spectrum with a simulationism–secessionism axis and a political/community-building–cultural/historic axis, and on a separate serious–satirical axis. It was created in December 2020 by Ivan Brienović and is based on the earlier micronational compass created in October 2019 by Ives Blackwood and Zabëlle Skye.
Brienović has since rejected this classification and the simulationism-secessionism spectrum, replacing it with virtue micropatriology.
Creation
Brienović created Brienovic's System of Micronational Classification as he felt that micropatriological research had demonstrated that an organic culture–constructed/taken culture axis was a necessary addition to classical micropatriology.[1] However, he felt that the one existing approach that used incorporated this axis, the micronational compass, was flawed in two main respects: one, that organic culture and constructed/taken culture were given the same amount of space on the chart, and two, that it was a square chart.[2] Brienović argued instead that constructed/taken culture was "bigger and more complex, while organic culture is more simplistic", which meant that the former should be given more space,[3] and that no micronation would ever be simultaneously completely simulationist or secessionist and have a completely constructed or organic culture, which meant that the chart should have rounded corners.[2]
He published the first version of the chart in December 2020 on MicroWiki@Discord; this version was a plain circle with the four quadrants.[4] Brienović used the label "political/community building" for organic culture and "cultural/historic" for constructed culture. After Ives Blackwood asked him about the position of micronations that used parallel plane theory relative to his definitions of secessionism and simulationism, Brienović added a small blue (secessionist and cultural/historic) circle within the yellow (simulationist and political/community building) quadrant, signifying that parallel plane theory was "secessionism inside simulationism".[5] He also later decided to add a serious–satirical axis, separate from the two-dimensional spectrum.[6][7]

"The reason why upper scale and lower scale being equal is bad is because constructed culture is bigger and more complex, and is hard to explain, while organic culture is more simplistic, which doesn't make constructed culture any better then organic one."
