The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth (formerly called the British Empire) is a Micronation founded on the 12th of October 2016. The head of state (Empress and Queen) is King Charles III of the United Kingdom. The head of government is the Prime Minister, Llywelyn of Anglestonia. It has been inactive for some time.
History
Before the creation of the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth/British Empire
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth originated from an idea for a country to be called the 'Grand Duchy and Commonwealth of Anglestonia'. The idea slowly became more influenced by British Patriotism. The 'Commonwealth' part of the name meant that the Queen of England was still head of state, and later, a Union Flag was added in the top left. The idea then was planned to be a British Overseas territory and eventually the idea became one for a British Empire. The first document for the Grand Duchy and Commonwealth of Anglestonia was an old flag design from the 10th of October 2015. The oldest document for the British Empire was from the 2nd of September 2016.
Creation of the British Empire
'The founder of the empire, Lord Llywelyn of Anglestonia, purchased a 2 square foot plot of land in Northern Ireland and this was split into two territories, a 18 by 12 inch territory called the Grand Duchy of Anglestonia, and a 12 by 6 inch territory called the South Anglestonia Colony. On this day, the first passport (The Grand Duke's) was made official, having been made the day before. These two territories made up the newly formed British Empire, a state that would later be renamed the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth
Early Days
In the early days, the British Empire was very small and had little structure or legislation. On the 26th of October, the British Empire created a website and the South Anglestonian Colony created the South Anglestonian Calendar. Around this time, the Grand Duke of Anglestonia had given citizenship to several people and had printed passports. On the 1st of November, the British Empire was given 'conditional recognition' from the Aerican Empire, which was the first country to recognise it. On the 12th of November, there was the first referendum on what countries should be recognised, ending on the 20th. Somaliland (2/3), Palestine (100%), Israel (100%), Spain (100%), Northern Cyprus (2/3), Taiwan (100%), and North Korea (2/3) were recognised, although the People's Republic of China (1/3) did not get recognised. On the 28th of November, the current flag was designed, set to replace the old flag by 2017. On the 16th of December, the terrorist group SARA fought for South Anglestonian Independence and lost. South Anglestonia was annexed by the Grand Duchy the day after. On the 19th of December, the Empire acquired the Scottish Colony, making the empire 50% larger (1 ft² larger).
2017
On the 21st of January, the British Empire announced plans for a constitution, passing it on the 6th of March. This officially created the title 'Imperial Governor'. On the 9th of April, the British Empire claimed a dependency on Antarctica (The South Durham Islands). On the 18th of May, the Aerican Empire gave full recognition to the British Empire. On the 27th of May, this Microwiki page was created. On the 24th of June, the Christ Act was passed, and Christianity (Church of England) became the official religion. This was purposefully right after The Empire of Austenasia had done so, although the Empire had planned this before Austenasia made Christianity their official religion. On the 26th of June, the Dominion of Pecuniam was annexed by the Empire after the Anglo-Pecunian war, making the empire roughly 250 times larger. On the 1st of July, the British Empire got recognition from two countries, the Kingdom of Ourania and the Federal Empire of Aarbaro, followed by the Principality of Æbmark on the 10th. On the 14th of July, the British Empire passed the Dominion Act, making the nation a British Dominion but also passing the Statute of Westminster (an act giving Dominions effective independence). Part of this act stated that the Empire must support the UK during wars, and so the Empire declared war on ISIS. On the 6th of August, the British Empire prevailed in a armed conflict. It was not known whether or not this was a war, and the enemy surrendered out of boredom and wasn't prosecuted. On the 10th of August, the Duke of Pecuniam lost a duel, and the winner became the King of Pecuniam with higher authority. On the 18th of August, the British Empire gained the Principality of Bindia and allied with Democratic People's Republic of Sholand, making its head of government the Prince of Bindia. The first paper money, the £1 note, was relased on the 19th by Anglestonia. On the 21st of August, the colony of Vietgnome was established and the Anglestonian Finance Charter was passed. On the 22nd, Anglestonia adopted its current Coat of Arms (there had been a previous one in use since Anglestonia was founded). On the 30th of August, Bindia's flag was made official. On the 9th of September, King of Pecuniam, now styled the great, established the colony of Raftia, later renamed Pecunian Raftia, and Pecuniam released its first paper money, the £4.78 note. On the 23rd, the British Empire declared its support for the Iraqi Kurdistan referendum and passed the Monarchies Act, recognising the royal houses of many republics and declaring every nation a monarchy. On the 28th of September, Pecuniam passed its Banking Charter, banning the King from producing the nation's money and establishing 'semi-feudalism' (later ruled unconstitutional). On the 30th of September, Proletistan was established, claiming all of Pecuniam but unrecognised. They repealed the drinking ban on the 1st of October and extended the smoking ban to cigars. On the 2nd of October, the Coat of Arms Act was passed in Anglestonia. On the 4th, Pecuniam declared war on Proletistan and threatened to declare independence. This threat was not taken kindly, and the Empire declared support for Proletistan. They withdraw support on the 5th, after Pecuniam apologised and withdrew the threat, although the Empire recognised both governments (they had only recognised Pecuniam before the threat on the 4th). The same day, the Patriotic Liberal Party was founded. On the 6th, Proletistan won the first and only battle in the conflict. On the 8th, the Pecunian government warned the Empire of an 'imminent Proletistani threat. The civil war ended on the 10th, after the Governor of Pecuniam vetoed the Declaration of war. The territory fell under direct rule of the empire, who held a referendum on the territory's fate. This resulted in the 2 state solution. On the 14th of October, the British Empire created 'British Imperial News', a government agency producing news videos, and released their first video. On the 15th of October, the Dominion of Pecuniam recognised Donald Trump as a country and declared war on him. Although the constitution bans territories from declaring war, the Empire doesn't recognise Donald Trump as a country, and so according to them, there is no war. On the 19th, Pecunian Semi-Feudalism was ruled unconstitutional, later being adapted. The same day, a Trade Union was established, going on strike. The strike was at the Bank of Pecuniam, meaning that the government could no longer produce money. Anglestonia introduced its own coins on the 21st and on the same day, amended its Finance Charter, introducing the first kind of welfare state in the British Empire. On the 26th, the Empire declared a new dependency on Mars. on the 27th of October, The Empire recognised Catalonia and an Australian Revolt happened in Pecuniam and Proletistan, later leading to the formation of Australian counties in both nations. The British Empire became 'Christian Socialist' on the 28th, in a Finance Charter which regulated the economy. On the 30th of October, there was a second war of South Anglestonian independence, which Anglestonia won. On the 4th of November, Anglestonia gained the ‘Stæpeburh’ (Walking fort), a piece of military equipment, and Pecunian Raftia got a new flag. There was a coup in Pecuniam on December the 30th, causing a crisis which carried on into the beginning of the next year
2018
During the first days of the year, there was a crisis in Pecuniam, where there was an unrecognised republican government whilst the British Empire recognised the Pecunian monarchy. This was resolved on the 4th of January, creating two Dominions, a Republican one and a Monarchist one. This was short lived however, as there was a second coup, resulting in a Grand Marshal who united the two Pecuniams and Proletistan as the Dominion of Great Pecuniam. Later, the Grand Marshal introduced a new currency called the Pecunian Florin. On March 2018, the Dominion of Great Pecuniam increased in size by approximately 165 square feet. On the 21st of July 2018, a "Second Constitution" was created, with the first constitution remaining in place. This second constitution established the role of Prime Minister and established an elected Parliament. The powers of the Imperial Governor were significantly reduced. Due to an anomaly, legislation needed to be voted on by parliament, which wouldn't form until the Parliamentary Elections were over on the 1st of October, meaning that until then, no legislation could be passed, and the British Empire effectively had no Head of Government. On the 1st of September, the first democratically elected head of government, Prime Minister Pecuniam, took power. although for the first month of his rule, legislation could not be passed due to there not being a parliament. After the first of October, parliament formed and began creating the first legislation produced by a democratic parliament. On the subsequent November Election, Prime Minister Pecuniam and Lord Llywelyn of Anglestonia both recieved one vote, creating a tie. This was solved when Prime Minister Pecuniam, unaware of the election results, resigned, and Lord Llywelyn of Anglestonia became Prime Minister
2019
On the 11th of April 2019, an amendment to the constitution of the British Empire was passed, renaming it the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth, renaming Colonies Imperial Counties, and establishing the category of Commonwealth Country. The Kingdom of Anglestonia rejoined the Commonwealth as a Commonwealth Country. The category of Dominion was left vacant.
Foreign Relations
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth has recognition from several countries, including the Federal Empire of Aarbaro, the Kingdom of Ourania, the Aerican Empire, the Principality of Æbmark, the Democratic People's Republic of Sholand, the Kingdom of Ladoland, the Empire of Toristan, the Free Democratic People's Soviet Socialist Republic of Jocistan, and Coo Cluck Clan Land.
The Commonwealth recognises all of these countries as well, and shares diplomatic relations with most of them. The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth has fishing rights in the Kingdom of Ourania.
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth has one ally, which is Sholand. It was formerly allied with Jocistan.
The Commonwealth's main trading partner is Sholand. The Commonwealth imports more goods than it exports.
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth has unilateral ties to the United Kingdom. All British Citizens and Nationals have a right to citizenship in the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth shares a currency and monarch with the UK, and the UK is obliged to support the UK in war by declaring war on the territory the UK is at war with. The Commonwealth is de jure a territory of the UK (classed as a Dominion), but is independent in almost every way, comparable to Canada in the 1940s. The declaration of sovereignty states "The British Empire is the empire of the United Kingdom. However, the Empire is not run by the UK Government".
Subsequently, the Anglestonian-Peccunian Commonwealth is at war with ISIS.
Geography/Territories
Geography
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth is made of 5 constituent territories (territories which are part of the country) and two dependencies (territories outside of the country but controlled by the Commonwealth). The 5 constituent territories are the Kingdom of Anglestonia, The Principality of Bindia, The Dominion of Great Pecuniam, Raftia, and the Scottish Colony. The dependencies are the South Durham Islands off the Antarctic coast and the Mars Dependency on the summit of the Martian mountain of Olympus Mons. The Commonwealth also has a protectorate called Laetaland.
The South Durham Islands are not a constituent territory of the empire and are instead a dependency. They are Antarctic Islands off the Canisteo Peninsula. They are the only non landlocked territory and so have a coast. Most of the territory is water. It is difficult to tell which parts of the territory are islands and which parts are not.
Ihe Scottish Colony in West Scotland, Bindia and Great Pecuniam are in County Durham, in the North East of England, and Anglestonia is mostly in County Durham but a small part of it is in Northern Ireland. The dependency of the South Durham Islands is located in Antarctica.
Climate
All but one of the territories are located in the UK and receive temperate maritime weather. They are all landlocked but are relatively close to the sea and experience heavy rain. Summers there are hot on some days but usually mild (50 °F). Winters are mild (Around 40 °F). The Scottish Colony and the part of Anglestonia in Northern Ireland are further north so have slightly colder weather. The Southernmost constituent territory overall is Raftia, located in Massachusetts, which experiences a Continental climate, with temperatures ranging from about 82 °F in Summer to 16 °F in Winter. This gives it both the Hottest summers and the coldest winters in the empire.

Kingdom of Anglestonia
The Kingdom of Anglestonia is a monarchy and is the main governing territory. It is classed as a Commonwealth Country, which is the highest rank for any territory in the empire. It is the oldest territory in the empire, being founded on the 12th of October 2016 with the British Empire as the Grand Duchy of Anglestonia, as it was one of the two original territories, the other being a 0.5 ft² territory called the South Anglestonia Colony which the Grand Duchy of Anglestonia annexed on the 17th of December 2016. Anglestonia used to be a Dominion, as the declaration of independence states that it is a Dominion because in the early days of the empire, there were only Colonies and Dominions. It was formerly described in the Empire passports as a Constituent Country/Dominion. It officially was promoted from a Dominion to a Constituent on the 19th of December 2016. It has its own constituent monarch: the King of Anglestonia, who governs Anglestonia as a royal dictator, only having to follow the Anglestonian-Pecunian constitution.
History of Anglestonia
In March 2018, it increased in size from 2 ft² to 20 ft² when it annexed the much larger colony of Vietgnome. The colony has become the county of Vietgnome, maintaining its old motto, coat of arms and flag, and is one of two Anglestonian counties, the other being Leighfrith in Northern Ireland.
On the 18th of August 2018, Carsakhstan and the Grand Duchy merged, forming the Kingdom of Anglestonia, territory much larger than the Grand Duchy had been, at 42 square yards. Both territories became Grand Duchies within the Kingdom, with the Grand Duchy of Anglestonia retaining its name whilst Carsakhstan was renamed Aurdalaith.
On the 14th of September 2018, the Kingdom of Anglestonia enacted its constitution, becoming a protectorate of the British Empire. The county of Leighfrith became a condominium, a constituent country within the British Empire called the Grand Duchy of Anglestonia. The Grand Duchy of Anglestonia is part of the Kingdom of Anglestonia, with 2 square feet of its 20 square feet also simultaneously being part of the British Empire. As the Grand Duke is a constituent monarch within the British Empire, he exercises the powers of a constituent monarch, meaning that he is mostly in charge although has to follow the British Empire's laws and constitution.
However, on the 11th of April 2019, the British Empire became the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth, and the entirity of the Kingdom of Anglestonia rejoined as a Commonwealth Country.

Currency
Anglestonia has its own currency, the Anglestonian Pound. This currency comes in notes and coins. The banknotes of Anglestonia began being made on the 18th of August 2017, with the £1 notes being released. The £5 note was released on the next day. All bank notes have the Queen on them (The same picture used on Australian $5 notes), and the £5 note has the King/Grand Duke of Anglestonia on the back. The Bank of Anglestonia makes notes and the Grand Ducal Mint makes coins (confusingly, they have the same logo).
Economy
Anglestonia is self-defined as socialist country. Under the current system, Everybody pays tax to the Bank of Anglestonia (The charter states that it can be payed to regions but there aren't any regions where this takes place). Taxes are progressive, with income taxes going up to 50%, and corporate taxes up to 30%. The largest company is the Anglestonian Kompot Cooperate, a consumer cooperative which produces the Eastern European drink, Kompot. As Anglestonia is therefore a cooperative based economy, it claims to be market socilaist economy.

The Principality of Bindia is a constituent country in the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth, founded on the 18th of August 2017. It is the largest constituent country in the empire. Its territory is a small piece of land with a compost bin on it, hence the name Bindia. It is a royal dictatorship with the Prince also being Shogun of Sholand. Bindia has the rights to a lot of autonomy but does not have any features other than a name, territory, and a monarch. Bindia is very close to Sholand.

The Kingdom of Great Pecuniam is the largest constituent territory in the Anglestonian-pecunian Commonwealth at roughly 100 yds². It was acquired in the Anglo-Pecuniam war, which saw the British Empire invade Pecuniam in a short war and annex the territory. This made the British Empire over 250 times larger, going from 3 ft² to 85 yds². Pecuniam is Latin for money.
History
Conquest of the Duchy of Pecuniam
Pecuniam was the only territory to be gained by the empire through war. A nation called Pecuniam was established on the 25th of June 2017 by the Duke of Pecuniam, who wanted a capitalist state. This nation was very basic, only consisting of a name (Pecuniam), a leader, and a territory (a house and a garden). The Empire had previously created a 'Military Presence' in a nearby area and used this in the war. Pecuniam was invaded and in the Treaty of Durham, was entirely ceded to the empire where it became the Dominion of Pecuniam with the previous leader serving as Duke (His title prior to this was undefined). The empire then measured the garden to be 84.74 yds² and the next day, the house was ceded to the United Kingdom because it would have been difficult to measure. On the 7th of July, Goldland and Airgead became joint official names (these extra names were removed in September 2017).
Flag Referendum
On the 10th of August 2017, a referendum began on an official flag for Pecuniam. The referendum was legally binding and ended on the 12th of August, with the current flag of Pecuniam being the winner. The flag had been designed a few days earlier on the 6th of August. The flag referendum included several comedic flags, one of which was second in the referendum.
The beginning of the reign of King
On the 10th of August 2017, the Duke (who was the leader of Pecuniam at the time) lost a duel to his friend, , who became the new leader. As soon as the duel ended, negotiations began and the final agreement was that the Duke would retain his title, but would become King, turning the Dominion from a Duchy to a Kingdom.
In September, King established a new colony in North America called Raftia, and it was put under heavy administrative powers of Pecuniam. He also styled himself as The Great. He removed all official names for Pecuniam other than Pecuniam. These names were Airgead, Goldland, Llifaur, and Potentia.
In late September, Pecuniam issued a banking charter, which established "semi-feudalism". This was in fact more feudal than Anglestonian Feudalism. Under Anglestonian Feudalism, a Serf would pay a 10% income tax to a Noble, whereas under stricter Pecunian feudalism, that Serf would have to work the land of a Lord. This style of Feudalism was ended by a constitutional ruling, resulting in Anglestonian style Feudalism but with 15% tax instead of 10%.
Pecunian Civil War and the creation of Proletistan
On the 30th of September 2017, in response to Pecunian Feudalism, Socialist Revolutionaries created the 'Proletariat Declaration', declaring themselves the government of Pecuniam, which they renamed Proletistan, releasing several socialist laws and reducing the king's power whilst making the territory more democratic. They had created a Soviet style culture but kept away from communism. The Pecunians branded them as communists and declared war on them, beginning the Proleti-Pecunian Civil War.
The Pecunians then threatened to declare independence from the British Empire "if the communist scum continue in this manner". The British Imperial Government reacted harshly to this threat, by switching from recognising Pecuniam to recognising Proletistan, and went further by giving support to Proletistan and declaring that a fight against Proletistan would be a fight against the British Empire. Pecuniam shortly apologised and renounced all claims to independence, resulting in the British Empire recognising both governments and adopting a neutral stance. However, the Democratic People's Republic of Sholand supported Proletistan, and a joint Proletistani and Sholandic force won the only battle in the war. By this time, Pecuniam was accepting most of the Socialist demands, but insisted on keeping the monarchy and keeping Pecuniam as the name of the territory. The Proletistani leader stated that he was not open to compromises. The war ended when the Governor of Pecuniam vetoed the declaration of war, and the British Empire took direct control over Pecuniam.
After the Proleti-Pecunian Civil War was over, the British Empire had established direct control over Pecuniam. They then issued a referendum, in which a two state solution was agreed upon. This led to the territory being split in half between the Dominion of Pecuniam and the newly formed Dominion of Proletistan. This led to Pecuniam halving in size.
Australian Revolt and New Queenslandic Independence
There was then an Australian Revolt, leading to a new region of Pecuniam called New Queensland. Shortly after, this region made itself highly autonomous and socialist and was subsequently made into a separate colony by Pecuniam, under Pecunian heavy administration, reducing Pecuniam's size by 25%, making it the smallest size in its history.
Deposition of King , Ensuing Crisis, and Resolution of Said Crisis
There was a military coup on the 31st of December 2017, seeing the abolition of the monarchy. A democratic constitution and republic was created (it was not a proper republic, as it was a territory within the British Empire, which is a Monarchy). The King was deposed and exiled. This government was initially not recognised by the British Empire. The Empire then released the 'Pecuniam and Raftia Declaration', calling for the return of the King as a Constitutional Monarch but retaining the democracy. This was refused by the revolutionaries, who were opposed to the King, viewing him as ' the bad' and an oppressor. The British Empire shortly after added the re-unification of Pecuniam and New Queensland to this, as the introduction of a Social Democracy to Pecuniam made New Queensland's separation redundant. Immediately after this addition to the declaration, The British Empire began taking action due to the Republic of Pecuniam refusing the restoration of the monarchy. A trade embargo was put on the Republic of Pecuniam. The Empire re-united New Queensland with Pecuniam, but with a completely separate government from the rest of Pecuniam. This government recognised the King and has been made the capital by the British Empire. It was the only part of the Kingdom under the control of the monarchist government, and was not under the embargo. The crisis was resolved in a deal splitting the nation 30/70, with the King getting the 30% part as his Dominion of the Pecunian Crown.
"Great Revolution" and Great Pecuniam under the Grand Marshal
On January the 4th, Lord Llywelyn of Anglestonia led a coup and established Great Pecuniam. The Republic surrendered and Proletistan agreed to join. Great Pecuniam's claim over the Dominion of the Pecunian Crown was also recognised. This meant that Pecuniam had been restored to its original borders. The three pre-existing dominions of Proeletistan, Pecuniam, and the Pecunian Crown became autonomous regions, with the latter two merging to form the Regional Kingdom of Pecuniam.
The reign of the Grand Marshal saw a lot of cultural reform, such as a new motto, the introduction of the Pecunian Florin, a new coat of arms, and a national anthem to the tune of the Welsh song "Sosban Fach".
In late march 2018, a new territory called Viribius was added to Great Pecuniam, making it approximately 165 square feet larger.
Transition to Democracy and abdication of King
On 21 August 2018, Lord Llywelyn of Anglestonia, as Grand Marshal, passed a new constitution, transitioning Great Pecuniam to a democracy called the Dominion of the Republic of Great Pecuniam. This constitution was, in fact, that of the old Republic of Pecuniam, albeit modified. The candidates standing were Duke Pecuniam of the Socialist Monarchist League (SML) and a cactus called Lenty of the Cactus' Equality Party. During the election, King abdicated from the throne of the Regional Kingdom of Pecuniam, resulting in the SML withdrawing from the election and Lenty winning. Lenty became president, and subsequently also became Grand Duke of Aurdalaith, a title in Anglestonia given to whoever is President of Great Pecuniam.
Currency
The official currency of Great Pecuniam is the Pecunian Florin (þ), which comes in the form of þ1, þ2, and þ5 notes.
Government
Great Pecuniam is a Commonwealth Country which consists of two autonomous regions: Proletistan and the Regional Kingdom of Pecuniam, the latter of which is the larger. Proletistan is more soviet-communist styled, featuring certain Soviet symbols, whilst the Regional Kingdom of Pecuniam has more to do with the old capitalist Pecuniam.
Constitutional Violations (Former Dominion of the Kingdom of Pecuniam)
1st. The King of Pecuniam passed a law making criticism of his leadership a capital offence. This law was declared unconstitutional by the Imperial Governor on the grounds of it violating the Rights of the People: Article 7 which states "Right to live: No death penalty". The law was also vetoed by the Governor of Pecuniam on behalf of the Anglestonian government. 2nd. In the charter of the Bank of Pecuniam, Pecuniam adopted "Semi-Feudalism" where a Serf was required to work the land for his lord. This violated the constitution which gave people "Freedom from enforced labour". Pecuniam responded by adopting Anglestonian style Feudalism. 3rd. Pecuniam fined somebody 140 Pecuniam Pounds (more than exists) for 7 posters/cartoons, 6 of which were Anti-Pecunian. These were overturned by the Imperial Government because they violated freedom of speech and expression of opinion.

The Scottish County was established on the 19th of December 2016 and belongs to the Kingdom of Anglestonia. It is located in Glencoe, Scotland and is 1 ft² in size. It has its own flag, featuring a red ensign defaced with a shield with the Royal Banner of Scotland on it. The Colony is the smallest territory in the empire and has always been since its existence, however, the former South Anglestonia Colony which was dissolved 2 days before the Scottish Colony was established, was half the size of the Scottish Colony. The Scottish Colony also used to make up 1/3 of the Empire's territory before Pecuniam was annexed. Due to formerly making up a large portion of the empire, there were originally plans to make it into the 'Dominion of Glencoe', however, this decision never went forward and has been abandoned due to the fact that the territory now comprises of only 0.13% of the empire. On the 11th of April, it was renamed the Scottish County, due to colonies being renamed imperial counties.

Raftia
Raftia is a colony in North America. It is under heavy administrative powers of Pecuniam meaning that Pecuniam governs it but doesn't own it. The territory consists of a raft on a pond in the Massachusetts and the land (or water) it rests upon. It was founded by King of Pecuniam who bought the raft when he was on holiday in America for $10 but did not bring it back. The raft's size is unknown, but it can hold 5 people.
Government
Head of State
King Charles III of the United Kingdom is the head of state of the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth. She has the title "Empress and Queen", formerly just Empress until the 2nd Constitutional Amendment. This makes the commonwealth an empire. HM Charles is also the religious head of the empire, as she is head of the Church of England, the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonewalth's official church.
Level of Democracy
The Anglestonian-Commonwealth has characteristics of a democracy and a dictatorship.
The head of government is an elected position, and legislation is voted on by an elected parliament. This means that the central government is mostly democratic. The empire was formerly a dictatorship, with the Imperial Governor having absolute control over the nation, even stylising himself as a dictator. The Imperial Governor still retains some power. This consists of having co-control over the website, the power to impeach politicians on charges of corruption, and his consent is required for constitutional amendments. The office of Imperial Governor constitutionally belongs to the Grand Duke of Anglestonia (who is also King of Anglestonia).
Although the Commonwealth's central government is mostly democratic, none of the governments of any of the constituent territories are, although Great Pecuniam and Anglestonia both have semi-democratic institutions subservient to their monarchies.
Constitution
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth is unique in that it has two constitutions.
The first constitution is the oldest, enacted in March 2017. It is an important legal document in the empire which sets the rights of the people and the basic laws and structure of government. It also sets the laws of the army and was the document which officially founded the army. It established the Imperial Governor as a dictator who could make any decision provided it did not violate the constitution, and even then, he had the power to amend it.
The second constitution established the British Empire as a democracy and set the groundwork for its democratic system. It created the parliament and the office of prime minister, and significantly reduced the power of the Imperial Governor. It also protected the rights of constituent territories to self-government.
Territories
The Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth is made of four types of territories, all with varying levels of power and autonomy. These are Imperial Counties (formerly Colonies), Dominions, Constituent Countries, and Commonwealth Countries. All territories must comply to Commonwealth Law, except Commonwealth Countries, which only need to follow the constitution.
Imperial Counties are the least powerful and autonomous territories of the empire. They are completely governed by Dominions and Constituent Countries or by the Imperial Government itself. They do not even have their own governments, and are governed from the territory which controls them. The title of Governor exists but the governor is more of a symbolic ruler of the colony. The government of the governing territory may give the governor power but this power comes from the governing territory and the governor is governing as a member of the government of that governing territory. A colony may have a distinct legal system, but this is written up by the governing territory.
Dominions are autonomous territories within the Commonwealth. They are permitted their own governments and can make their own legislation. They may also have their own monarchies and passports. Although they are self governing, a constituent country may be given light administrative powers over them. This allows the constituent country to veto legislation made by the Dominion they have power over. They cannot own colonies but may have heavy administrative powers over them. This is identical to owning the colonies, with only 3 differences. Firstly, a colony may be owned by a constituent country and administered by a Dominion, meaning the Constituent Country would also have power over the Colony. Secondly, Heavy Administrative Powers isn't ownership under Imperial law. Thirdly, the Imperial Government (or government of the Constituent Country if it owns the colony) can take the powers away from the Dominion.
Constituent Countries are the most powerful and autonomous territories. They share all of the rights of Dominions but can own colonies and have light administrative powers over Dominions (where they can veto legislation made by Dominions). They used to be the only territory allowed to have monarchies until the 2nd amendment was passed, extending that right to Dominions. Constituent Country is the newest classification of territory within the empire, becoming a separate entity from Dominion on the 19th of December 2016 (the empire's declaration of independence states only two types of territories: Dominions and Colonies)
Culture
The Anglestonian-Pecuniam Commonwealth's culture is almost identical to British Culture. The Empire aims to have intensely British culture, to a point where British culture in the empire is more prominent than in most of the UK itself. The Commonwealth's culture is noticeably old fashioned, with Imperial Units and pre-decimal coins being used. The Commonwealth is a monarchist society, with three constituent monarchies within it.
The transformation of the country from the British Empire to the Anglestonian-Pecunian Commonwealth signals a cultural shift towards a more medieval culture.
Economy
The official currency of the Anglestonian-Pecuniam Commonwealth is the Pound Sterling. Anglestonia and Great Pecuniam both have their own currencies, the Anglestonian Pound and the Pecuniam Florin respectively. Although the Pound Sterling is the De Jure official currency of the empire, the Anglestonian Pound is the De Facto official currency. The Commonwealth Government cannot fine or tax in currencies that aren't produced in the empire, meaning that the pound sterling is not a currency used by the government.
The Commonwealth has a very weak export economy. The only thing they have ever exported were small paper flags, equating to nine Anglestonian pounds.
