The Vice-Chair of the Organization of Islamic Micronations (OIM) is the deputy of the Chair of the Organization of Islamic Micronations. It is the second most powerful position in the executive branch of the organization. Since 14 March 2024, two days after its establishment, Sultan Noor Alyarish of Selatan is serving as the Vice-Chair of the organization.

History

The position of the Vice-Chair was created on 14 March 2024, after two days of the establishment of the Organization of Islamic Micronations (OIM). The post was created as the deputies of the secretaries-general. The post name of the Secretaries-general was changed to the Chair on 23 June 2024 by adopting the 2nd and current Charter of the Organization of Islamic Micronations. Noor Alyarish is serving as the Vice-Chair since the creation of the post.

Responsibilities

The Vice-Chair is the deputy of the Chair of the OIM and gets all powers of Chair in his absence. He represents the OIM in diplomatic forums and negotiations, promoting the organization's objectives of unity, cooperation, and mutual development among Islamic micronations. He chairs the sessions of general assembly in the absence of the Chair. He also chairs specialized committees and working groups focused on economic cooperation, cultural exchange, security, and regional stability, fostering collaboration and synergy among member states. If the Chair’s office becomes vacant, the Vice Chair will immediately succeed him as the Chair. He will serve until the ending of remaining term of the Chair.

Appointment

The Vice-Chair is appointed by the Chair, with the approval of the General Assembly. Candidates for Vice-Chair must demonstrate diplomatic acumen, leadership qualities, and a commitment to advancing the OIM's mission.

Term of Office

Unlike the Chair, there is no defined term limits of the Vice-Chair. Appointed by the Chair, he serves until abdication or at the Chair's pleasure. The Chair can appoint or dismiss the Vice-Chair at any time.
