History

The position of the Chair was originally known as the Secretary-General during the early days of the OIM, established on 12 March 2024, with the aim of fostering unity and cooperation among Islamic micronations. Initially, the leadership consisted of joint Secretaries-General: Emir Ibraheem I of Shaheenistan and President Saleh A.H of Olov. This dual leadership structure persisted until 23 June, when the OIM adopted its second and current charter, formalizing the role as Chair and establishing a single leadership position.

Responsibilities

As the head of the OIM's Executive Branch, the Chair is the head of the Executive Branch of the OIM. He represents OIM in international forums and diplomatic engagements. He is responsible for the administration of the organization, including overseeing the implementation of decisions made by the General Assembly and managing the OIM Secretariat. He also acts as the chief diplomat of the OIM, engaging with member states, observer nations, and international organizations to promote OIM's objectives and initiatives. He chairs the sessions of the General Assembly. The Chair appoints the Vice-Chair, Chief Justice, Additional Justice, and all other executive position, and oversees their activities.

Chair Election

The Chair is elected by the General Assembly by a direct voting mentioned in the Charter of the OIM. Candidates for the position must be delegates from full member states and must receive a majority vote for election. A delegate can't serve as Chair for more than two consecutive terms. Each term is of six months.
