The Transitional Government of Mushroomia, officially the Transitional Government of Mossia, was the government that ruled Mushroomia after the violent fall of Jake B.'s Totalitarian government in the midst of the Mushroomian Civil War. The government was immediately thrown into chaos as the Wamongian government began invading the country, which led to a 3-month war that ended with the newly appointed government being overthrown and replaced with a pro-Wamong government, effectively making Mushroomia a puppet state to Wamong, though the nation only paid lip service to the government in Edenville.
History
Collapse of Jakeist Mushroomia
The collapse of Jake B.'s Totalitarian government led to a massive power vacuum that led to the anti-Authoritarian opposition being swept into office, which led to immense instability. This led to the establishment of a transitional government that was formed right after Jake B.'s ousting. Immediately after this transition, the Wamongian government, which was already opposed to this new Libertarian approach to governance, invaded. This led to the commencement of a 3-month war, which led to even more chaos.
Wamongian invasion
On 1 May 2018, the Republic of Wamong declared war on Mushroomia. However, the first attempts at invasion did not come until 10 June 2018. Instead, immense tension was created. The reasoning was because of the fact that Wamong, which was an Authoritarian dictatorship, and feared being overthrown themselves. Wamong itself already had anti-Authoritarian opposition, and needed something to deflect the opposition.
Thus, they invaded. They made their first moves on 10 June, and quickly swept through the Southern territories, taking them by the end of the month. By July, they were slowly taking the rest of the land, and by 30 August 2018, they captured the shed in the very North of Mushroomia, and Kira Duighan surrendered.
She was quickly ousted and replaced by a new Authoritarian government that was pro-Wamong. This effectively made Mushroomia a puppet state of Wamong, though they only paid lip service to them. Mushroomia was now effectively a Communist dictatorship that was a One Party State. However, Mushroomia did begin to liberalize more and more over the years, and began to allow for more opposition.
Gradual liberalization and end of transitional government
Over time, Mushroomia began to liberalize and relax its stance on issues. It was at first extremely hard-line, but slowly began to embrace a mixture of Libertarian and Authoritarian policies that allowed it become a moderate dictatorship that was more akin to a nation like Singapore. However, it remained a One Party State like many other Communist nations. It slowly stagnated in growth, and began to decline, however, as the years went on.
This was due to government spending that led to an immense dip in economic development, and living standards declined as well due to overpopulation. In 2018, the Human Development Index was at 0.620, whilst in 2020, it was 0.574, which is a 7.5% decrease from two years ago. This, however, was never remedied, and the nation is still being affected by the decline to this day.
The transitional government eventually ended on 20 July 2020, after the Republic of Mushroomia was established. The nation has not changed its government since then.
