Geleontida is a Theme of the Empire of Imvrassia.
History
It is located in Hellenic Republic and it was founded by the then Prince of Imvrassia Aggelos I as an administrative division of Imvrassia, as a Duchy and consists of one house. On 23 June 2016 the Duchy of Argadia which was a Crown land, became an independent Duchy and the then King of Imvrassia, Aggelos, became the Duke of Argadia. On 1 July 2016, after weeks of negotiation it was decided that the Duchy of Argadia, would join the Empire of Karnia-Ruthenia. The status of the Duchy of Argadia was established to be equal to the other member states of the Empire, but strengthened the European side of the micronation, becoming the third state member of Karnia-Ruthenia established on the continent. On 8 May 2020, after the petition made to the Imperial Diet on late April, the right of secession was granted and Argadia became independent again.
Kingdom of Argadia
On 15 May 2020 Argadia proclaimed to the status of a Kingdom after a decision of the then its sovereign Duke Aggelos. The change of the monarchical title was the beginning of a new political direction as from the hitherto western-european (as part of Karnia-Ruthenia) it changed to a Hellenistic one. After the proclamation of the kingdom, the crown was offered to the Imvrassian Empress Aikaterini I and a personal union was formed with Imvrassia.
Union with Imvrassia
After a not so active period of the new kingdom, on 24 October 2020 Empress Aikaterini annexed Argadia as a Province into the Empire of Imvrassia. Argadia administratively joined into the Praetorian Prefecture of Elladia and later the Praetorian Prefecture of the East and on 21 August 2021 a new Theme was added to the area of the Province.
Theme of Geleontida
On 25 November 2023 the Province renamed from a subdivision of the Ionians, the Geleontes which was the first of the four tribes into which the Ionians were subdivided. According to Strabo, the Geleontes were the brilliant ones, the lords or priestly families, the priests. Geleon, son of Iona, was considered the hero of the tribe. The name Geleon was found in an inscription in Athens as a name of Zeus ("Jeus Geleonos hierokrassi"). The word is more likely to mean the god of light, the ethereal Zeus, as shown by Hesychius' phrase "Gelan, dawn of the sun." From the preservation of the cult of Zeus Geleon after the abolition of the four tribes by Cleisthenes, it can be concluded that the cult remained in Athens as a private cult.
On 5 May 2024 on the occasion of the Christian holiday of Easter, a Chrysobul was issued which was inspired like the similar precedents of the nominal kingdoms and thus ended in the creation of the Kingdom of Geleontida which includes the Theme of Geleontida, without any special privilege or autonomy. Also on the same day for the nominal Kingdom of Geleontida was created a new dynastic title , that of the Hegemon of Geleontida which is in permanent personal union with the Crown.
On 01 July 2024 the nominal Kingdom of Pamphylia was created and later on 16 August 2024 the Praetorian Prefecture of Pamphylia in order to include in an administrative unit all the territories of the Empire that had been joined during the previous years. The Crown choose as an imperial territory to join to this new administrative unit the Theme as a connecting piece with the lands of the Praetorian Prefecture.
