The Blackman is a 2022 short film directed and starring Zion Ormsby and Nathan Rheeder. It is the first movie in the Blackman Franchise series of films directed and produced by Zion Ormsby and later Ormsby - Miller Production Studios LLC. The Blackman follows Jamal Dwayne / Blackman (Zion Ormsby) as he pursues the Joker (Elijah Tibbits) in Gotham and Detroit.

Unlike the Blackman: Redditors Reckoning, The Blackman received high praise for the acting ability and creative ideas brought about by the movie, especially Elijah Tibbits ability to play the Joker. The movie contains a large amount of references to other movies and or television shows as well as modern memes, like Breaking Bad, Among Us and inside jokes around the group that made the movie. Because of these "pop-culture" references the film received high praise for the story and brought high hopes for the sequel and also empowered Zion Ormsby to consider creating a sequel.

The plot loosely follows that of The Batman as well as taking inspiration from the Dark Knight Trilogy by Christopher Nolan.

Production

Unlike the sequel, production of The Blackman occurred in one night. Filming occurred at the Ligah Province of the Confederate Democracy of Gamers. Director Zion Ormsby stated after the release of the movie:

We did this whole thing sober. We didn't start drinking till after the filming to make the acting more authentic

Plot

In Great Gotham and Detroit, Blackman (Zion Ormsby) meets with James Gordon (Nathan Rheeder) to discuss the news that the Joker (Elijah Tibbits) is holding up the Gotham City Bank. Gordon informs the Blackman that the hostages are being held at the Gotham City Bank at 308 Negra Arroyo Lane. Gordon also explains to the Blackman of his troubles with Alcoholism and his love for the Joker. The Blackman soon heads off to investigate the hostage situation at the bank and discovering it to be where the Joker is still located. A fight ensues between the two and the Joker escapes no before remarking The Blackman is a "sussy baka" (a reference to an imposter in Among Us). The Joker is pursued by the Blackman on the Bat-Scooter until the Joker is hit by a car, which inflicts minor damage to the car and injures the Joker much to the dismay of the driver (Macsen Blennerhasset).

The Blackman is eventually able to capture and begins to interrogate him about his motives to take the Bank. The Joker reveals to the Blackman the reason is because of the lack of attention that the Joker was receiving from the Blackman. The Blackman informs Joker that he will be sent to Arkham Asylum and locked away for a long time.

Blackman meets up with James Gordon again after arresting the Joker, with Gordan congratulating the Blackman on his success and informing him of his sobriety. Blackman informs Gordon that he will not stop fighting crime in Gotham and Detroit.

Others have given the film high praise with Ethan Brinkman stating:

The acting ability of those involved in this film, mainly Elijah Tibbits with his portrayal of the Joker, which I consider to be on par with Heath Ledger, is superb. Although knowing the limitations of the cast and crew it is nearly Oscar worthy. I cannot wait to see the sequel.
