The Blackman: Redditors Reckoning is the second movie in the Blackman Franchise of films by Orsmby - Miller Productions. The film follows The Blackman (2022) and follows the adventures of the Blackman (Zion Ormsby) and his pursuit of the infamous Redditor (Election Leader Tristen) and the Joker (Elijah Tibbits) who are attacking Gotham and Detroit, USA.
Although the movie is the direct sequel to The Blackman, director Zion Ormsby stated that the movie is not canon and is in no way related to the Batman series of movies and purely independent.
Expectations for the movie were extremely high especially among the cast and crew who were 'hyped' following the insane success of The Blackman. Hopes were at an all time high when production started but as the filming and producing dragged on into November 2022 the expectations began to lower. Ormsby - Miller Productions, who were leading the release of the movie have stated the length of the movie and time constraints of the editing team have contributed to the movie taking so long.
Production
The idea for the movie, originally known as Blackman 2 came on 12 August 2022, with the title coming soon after. Nathan Reeder, who had originally come up with the idea for The Blackman and was Commissioner James Gordon, however due to a dispute on 15 August 2022 with the director and lead, Nathan was pulled from the second movie.
The main filming started on the night of 20 August 2022 at the Gollandiya Territory of the Arstotzkan Union as well as the Maungatapu Shopping Centre in Maungatapu. During the filming Peter Gedye was announced to play the part of Commissioner James Gordon with Ethan Brinkman playing the Mayor.
On 25 August, Ormsby - Miller Productions announced the movie would be premiering on 11 September 2022. Five days later the first sneak peak came out and a preview for the movie came out on 12 September with the movie being delayed with a date still unknown.
Several more filming shoots have since occurred, one at the Maungatapu Primary School, two outside Tauranga Boys' College, one more in the Kaimai Ranges and a final one to occur at Zion Ormsby's house (Kholmistaya Rayon Territory) on 26 November 2022.
Following completion of filming at Zion Ormsby's house, Zion announced three more scenes were required to be filmed with the team requesting the First President to film at he Gollandiya Territory again, this was later denied for the fact that the Gollandiya Territory was closed for a private event.
On 19 January 2023, the final scene was announced to be filmed on that night. However much to the dismay of the cast and crew, Director Zion Ormsby announced later that week that production will continue for the final scenes, with them expected to be reshot some time in June or July 2023.
Plot
The movie is yet to be release and the final plot has not been finalized.
The movie opens at the Shopping Centre in Gotham, a unnamed individual (Luke Fraser-Brown) calls for an Uber who arrives and picks him up driving him home. The Uber and man arrive at their location when the Uber leaves the unnamed man is beaten up by random goons from across the street. The music changes and in walks the Blackman (Zion Ormsby) who attacks and beats up the goons before the Black signal is shone onto a house. Blackman meets up with Commissioner James Gordon (Peter Gedye) who informs him of a new villain terrorising Gotham and Detroit, known as the Redditor. During the Mayors Gala, following the meeting, Mayor Twinky Sharp announces a new policy of 'Beer in Schools' initiative before Baine's (Grayson Moore) goons raid the Gala. The Blackman soon arrives to apprehend Baine however a fight ensues and Blackman is nearly defeated by Baine before Commissioner Gordon shows up and shoots Baine before Blackman beats him to the ground.
The scene changes and Blackman and Gordon are interrogating Baine to find out who his boss is, before a phone rings and Blackman meets the Redditor (Tristen) who gives him some riddles to figure out the Redditors plot and finds out he is going after the mayor.
The scene changes again to Blackman fighting the Joker (Elijah Tibbits) in the house of the Redditor before the events of the main movie and while the Redditor is livestreaming on Twitch the Joker insults the Blackman by calling him the n-word which causes the Redditor to lose all of his 'subs' and he devolves into a hatred of the Blackman. While at school he begins to draw pictures of the Blackman before drawing over them. While leaving he bumps into famous student Jamal Dwyane and heads to his home before the credits role.
Reception
Government ratings
On 13 December 2022, the Arstotzkan Federal Content Ratings Commission announced the Blackman: Redditors Reckoning would receive a R18 rating as per the Films, Videos and Classifications Act 2022. Chief Censor, Joshua Smith, Chairman of the Department of the State, Samantha Johnson and First President Ethan Brinkman all agreed that the film required the rating due to its use of violence and the use of the n-word. The AFCRC also advised the Office of Film and Literature Classification in New Zealand to give the movie the same rating.
