TASPAC, officially known as Tasman-Pacific and formerly Tasman Partnership of Active Co-operation, was an organization for micronations located in New Zealand, Australia and Indonesia. Founded on January 17, 2011, TASPAC aims to promote peace and diplomacy between micronations in the Indonesian-Australasian region and to help new micronations in the area develop.

History

TASPAC was originally proposed by Anthony Fowler of Zealandia and Daniel Anderson of Sirocco, and after discussion with Aldrich Lucas of Yabloko, Jeremy Oakes and Michael Sander of Optima and Graham Norbent of FRA1, plans began on the creation of a trans-Tasman micronational organization. This went by the name "Tasman Partnership of Active Co-operation" until interest was expressed by Los Bay Petros and due to the location of Indonesia outside the Tasman region, it was decided to change the name to "Tasman-Pacific". TASPAC was officially established on January 17, 2011. TASPAC remained obscure outside of Tasman circles until Yablokogate, during which, due to the use of its chatroom by multiple non-voting members to discuss leaked documents, it was accused of, among other things, plotting to take over MicroWiki. These rumors were fueled by the fact that, in the days prior to Yablokogate, TASPAC had counted two-thirds of MicroWiki administrators among its membership.

Remit

TASPAC’s purpose is to encourage intergovernmental co-operation among micronations of the Tasman and the Indonesian Archipelago, by providing a venue for socialization between citizens and for transparent, public negotiation. It generally does not undertake organizational initiatives, and has no formal parliamentary structure. Rather, it merely attempts to provides channels of communications between states.

Below is a full list of member nations and their date of acceptance. Members are granted full access to discussions within the organization, with each nominating a representative for participation. Each member is allowed to nominate one dignitary to represent their nation on the TASPAC General Council, usually the nation's head of state.
