The Swannian Union, known simply as Swannia, is a self-proclaimed independent nation, known as a micronation to external observers. It was formed as a result of a union between the Grand Duchy of Australis and the Federal Republic of New Holland on 9 September 2021[1]. The land claimed by Swannia is primarily located within the metropolitan region of Perth, Western Australia, and the South West region of Western Australia. In addition, Swannia has two land claims situated within the county of Staffordshire, United Kingdom.
Swannia is a semi-constitutional diarchy, led by the High Consuls of Swannia, Daniel Hamilton and Jared B..
Etymology
The name 'Swannia' is derived from the Swan River, a river located in Western Australia. It was a chosen name, conceived by Daniel Hamilton, who wished to have a name that represented the area on which the majority of Swannian land claims lie.
Government
Diarchy
Swannia is ruled by two High Consuls, who hold nearly absolute power over the nation's governance. Typically, the First Consuls of the states of Australis and New Holland also serve as the High Consuls of Swannia.
Organisational participation
Swannia is a member of several intermicronational organisations, including the Grand Unified Micronational, Cupertino Alliance and the Constantia Pact, as a result of Swannia formally succeeding Australis, a member of each of these organisations.
Administrative divisions
Swannia is composed of two constituent states - Australis and New Holland. Each state is further divided into districts, which are under the jurisdiction of the state in which they are a part of.
