Sri Rajanya, literally meaning one of noble birth, is the highest rank of nobility in Vishwamitra which is conferred upon a non-royal subject in due recognition of their services to the nation. The rank-holders form the highest group in the nobility and rank below a member of the royal family and above Sri Pradhana and Sri Nayak. The rank of Sri Pradhana is equivalent to a duke.

The title was introduced on 30 July 2024 by Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya, two days ahead of his second installation.

History

The history of nobility in Vishwamitra dates back to 2020 when Rashtradhyaksh Varuna Sriraya constituted the national peerage. The dukes formed the highest class of the peerage and were exclusively awarded. The appointees were largely former holders of high offices, including former prime ministers, former deputy prime ministers, and the national artists.

Following the abolition of the peerage in 2023, the Raj Ratnas replaced the dukes in the peerage. The title of Raj Ratna was discontinued in April 2024 by a royal decree. The title of Sri Rajanya was created on 30 July 2024 along with the other two noble ranks.
