The Praetorian Prefecture of Orfalia is an administrative division of the Empire of Imvrassia.
Etymology
The name Orfalia comes from the Orpheus. In Greek mythology, Orpheus was a Thracian bard, legendary musician and prophet. He was also a renowned poet and, according to the legend, travelled with Jason and the Argonauts in search of the Golden Fleece, and even descended into the underworld of Hades, to recover his lost wife Eurydice. Orpheus was also called the ruler of Bistonian Pieria.
Ancient Greek authors such as Strabo and Plutarch note Orpheus's Thracian origins. The major stories about him are centered on his ability to charm all living things and even stones with his music (the usual scene in Orpheus mosaics), his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld, and his death at the hands of the maenads of Dionysus, who got tired of his mourning for his late wife Eurydice. As an archetype of the inspired singer, Orpheus is one of the most significant figures in the reception of classical mythology in Western culture, portrayed or alluded to in countless forms of art and popular culture including poetry, film, opera, music, and painting.
For the Greeks, Orpheus was a founder and prophet of the so-called "Orphic" mysteries. He was credited with the composition of a number of works, including several theogonies, the Orphic Hymns, and the Orphic Argonautica. Shrines containing purported relics of Orpheus were regarded as oracles.
History
The Praetorian Prefecture of Orfalia was created in order to include in an administrative unit all the former western territories of the Empire. It is an attempt to emphasize the ability of the regions belonging to the empire to be able to maintain their special characteristics, both culturally and politically within the context of the operation of a Greek-centric state.
Politics
The Praetorian Prefecture of Orfalia is an administrative unit and is under the direct jurisdiction of the Crown. A Praetorian Prefect is considered the highest dignitary and generally managing the day-to-day running of the Praetorian Prefecture.

There is at least one residence, the capital of the administrative unit and could be others administrative subdivisions. Each Duchy is generally governed by citizens with the title of Protosebastos / Protosebaste or Magistros / Pansebaste and uses the title of Duke/Duchess who is apponted by an Exarch or a Hegemon or his/hers deputy. A Duchy is divided into Archonties and its Duke/Duchess could appoint to each Archontia an Archon. The Duchy usually had a house and land, while the Archonties could be either a house or a territory without population.
- Exarchate : An Exarchate is a special semi-autonomous territorial and administrative unit of Imvrassia (usually a former inactive sovereign state or a group of Provinces or Duchies) and has the full inner workings of government and on administrative issues. In an Exarchate is allowed the establishment and operation of a representative-public advisory body under the name of the House of Representatives. This body is under the chairmanship and responsibility of the Exarch, who is appointed by the Crown and has the title of Magistros or Pansebaste. An Exarch is an official responsible for a polity in the name of and as the representative of the Crown of Imvrassia and is equivalent to the office of a viceroy. A Hegemony is an autonomous non-sovereign monarchy within the Empire and has its own monarch with the title of Megas Archon or Lord Paramount. A Hegemony has full inner workings of government and administrative issues, though united by allegiance to the Crown. The Hegemon has the right to be the head of his own dynasty and to create and give titles to his relatives, to his officials and to his nobles. The administrative division of the Hegemony follows the local political tradition. Also a Hegemon is the head of the government of his domain or he can appoint his/her deputy with the title of Topoteretes to run the Hegemony's government. The official style of a Hegemon is His/Her Grace the Megas Archon/Megali Archontissa (name), Hegemon of (name of the Hegemony) or His/Her Grace (name), the Lord Paramount/Lady Paramount of (name of the Hegemony). The title of a Hegemon as a monarch in his own right comes immediately after that of a Co-Emperor, but isn't considered superior to the title of Caesar/Augusta because the latter belongs to the Heir to the Throne. Also the Heir of the Hegemony has the title of Diadochos.

Religion
Religion in Imvrassia is dominated by the Greek Orthodox Church, which is within the larger communion of the Eastern Orthodox Church and it represented almost the total population. Since its founding, Imvrassia has pursued a policy of guaranteeing freedom of religious belief for all, respecting the religious beliefs and cultural tradition of its citizens.
Citizenship
The Empire of Imvrassia accepts new citizens and awards them the title of Sebastos and Sebaste of Imvrassia, if they wish. If they do not want a title of nobility, they merely request citizenship and participate in the public life of the State.
