Nichensburg, officially Tsardom of Nichensburg (Latin: Imperium Nichensburg; Croatian: Kraljevina Ničensburg) and sometimes addressed as Nichen or "Nich", is a self-proclaimed state, often referred to by external observers as a micronation. It has territorial claims situated across multiple countries including Croatia, Brazil, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Nichensburg's culture and society is focused around Christianity and Christian morality, with the former ruler Ludwig Brienović describing it as the "Heir to Christendom". Roman Catholicism is the traditionally dominant denomination of Nichensburg, although the Pavlovian Orthodox Church gained co-official status in November 2021. The political system of Nichensburg is heavily derived from the divine right of kings, the idea that monarch's recieve their right to rule from and are only accountable to God, establishing a political tradition of absolutism.

Nichensburg is a socii state of the Empire of Pavlov. Since 21 November 2021, following the abdication of Ludwig I, it has also been under a personal union with Pavlovian Emperor His Imperial Majesty Alexander IV.

Etymology and denonym

The name of Nichensburg is a portmanteau of "Nichen" and and "(s)burg". The term Nichen had no specific origin but was rather an invented term, although it has since become the demonym for Nichensburg citizens. The suffix "-burg" is a Germanic term, which originally meant a fortified settlement (such as a castle) in many Germanic languages, itself derived from a Proto-Indo-European word meaning "mountain" or "hill".

Nichen is the preferred demonym due to its short length, although Nichensburger or Nichensburgian are also occassionally used.

History

Early Nichensburg

The first Principality of Nichensburg was founded around 2018 by Sir Christop Billung as the "Kingdom of Begonia". Begonia was largery inactive between February–May 2020. In the transition from September to October 2020, The Kingdom of Begonia was rebranded as The Kingdom of Nichensburg, making it an important title. Sir Christoph decided to give up project to the Kingdom of Brienia as "internal personal union member state", and continue his work in then Grand Principality of Begon. The Principality continued to be an internal personal union member state until the February 2021, when Brienian King Višeslav II. Brienović departed from Brienia and community, but came back and proclaimed independence from Brienia under Nichensburg. Regnal name of Brienović was changed to "Ludwig Brienović".

The Kingdom of Normandy was founded on October 10, 2020, claiming successorship to the medieval Duchy of Normandy. The Kingdom was founded to promote the traditional Western European culture and the Catholic Faith, and monarchy. On 3o March 2021, King of Normandy Louis de Blois accepted an offer of union from HSH The Prince.

Reign of Ludwig I

Normano-Nichish Kingdom

Normano-Nichish Kingdom was a micronation that ruled over the lands of Nichensburg. It was, as said, formed by the Act of Union. Normano-Nichish Kingdom was a dual monarchy.

Normano-Nichish Kingdom continued to exist for month and a half, until dualism was brought to an end on 15 May 2021.

Reign of Alexander IV

Politics and government

The political system of Nichensburg is currently going through changes after the abdication of Ludwig I and Alexander IV. A new deliberative body has been established known as the Estates-General, composed of nobles, appointees by the previous regent and representatives from Pavlov. The current Acting Chief Justiciar is Melitese politician Matthew Tonna, who has been appointed to serve until a new one is elected by the Estates-General on 28 November 2021 and maintain a stable transition process. Duke Filaret Prokhorovych Zakharov is currently writing a new constitution basic law upon the advice of the Estates-General.

Nichensburg has traditionally been an absolute monarchy under the King. However, during the later part of Ludwig I's rule, the Kingdom developed into a executive monarchy. The Chief Justiciar served as the appointed head secretary under the King and was effectively the de facto head of government. The Royal Congress was a deliberative body composed of the Nichen nobility which serves as a legislature. The Kingdom was heavily influenced by the Roman Catholic Church, having theocratic elements and promoting Political Catholicism. Some elements of government were inspired by the historic Kingdom of Hungary and Kingdom of Croatia.

Nichensburg is a feudal state and landed nobles rule their territories as a fief often gifted to the King under fealty.

Law and order

Nichen laws under Ludwig I were either derived from decree from the King or approved motions of the Royal Congress. The laws of Nichensburg are notably socially conservative and based upon Christian values, including prohibitions on promiscuity, homosexuality, transgenders and furries. Laws were enforced by his Royal Guards.
