The Mugahan Field War is an ongoing internal conflict between Mugahan government forces with support from the Inner West Park Annexation Movement, and a collection of paleo-conservative insurrectionist militias attempting to begin a series of politically motivated kidnappings, murders, coups, terrorist attacks, and guerrilla wars known as the "cull" which is intended to remove political opposition and propel paleo-conservative regimes into power across the Inner West. The conflict began on 20 November 2023 and has been ongoing ever since.
Background
The Inner West was in a state of economic reconstruction in the post-Johnston's Creek Wars period. Focus on Johnston's Creek nationalism was fading in exchange for individualism and right-wing nationalism among developed Inner West micronations, the result of which was a breeding ground for the rise of groups like Mugahan Third and it's associated militant wings which would soon be involved in the planning of terrorist attacks and political violence in an attempt to influence public opinion in favour of their cause.
The Cull
The Cull is an idea propagated by Ynwunce Honsepler of Mugahan Third, which posits that the rise of Mugahan paleo-conservatism is inhibited by political opponents that cannot be voted out due to the public's favourable view of them, along with paleo-conservatism's lack of representation in the Overton Window. The proposed fix to this idea is the Cull, which is the concentration of organised political violence towards opponents of Mugahan Third, and the targeted removal of all political opposition. These ideas landed Mugahan Third on Badu Park's list of designated terror groups. For many years, the Cull was largely a fantasy, and no real world action was taken to advance the group towards beginning the Cull. This was the case until late 2023, when Mugahan nationalists bombed a Mugahan government building (used fire crackers to destroy a cardboard shack), which resulted in one injury. Mugahan Third claimed responsibility for the attack, and a warrant was set out for their arrest by Mugahan authorities. Mugahan Third responded by bombing the construction site where the destroyed government building was being rebuilt, causing no casualties, but setting back work several months. The perpetrators were chased by members of the Mugahan Army in an attempt to arrest them, and the two pursuing soldiers were led into a well armed Mugahan Third militia brigade, killing both troops. This is marked as the start of the war.
Initial Stages
After this initial second-round of attacks on Mugahan government facilities, Mugahan Third, and its associated militant wings, made connections with other anti-Junta forces and established a front in Mugahan.
