The Monarchy of West Canada is one of the foundational offices of the Dominion of West Canada. The throne of West Canada, currently occupied by Elizabeth II, represents a direct evolution of the role of the British monarch in Canada, yet has evolved into a distinct and uniquely Canadian institution. While not in West Canada, the monarch is represented by the Governer-General, currently Connor Shaw.

History

Roles

Royal Prerogative

The duties of the West Canadian monarch are entitled as the Royal prerogatives. The monarch is tasked with signing laws passed by the Parliament of West Canada into law, appointing a Prime Minister, and representing the country. In addition, the monarch has reserve powers that can be used in emergency situations. All courts of law issue judgments in the name of the monarch, just as most governmental documents, such as passports and driver's licenses, are issued in her name.

Military

The monarch functions as Commander-in-Chief of the West Canadian Armed Forces and all military personnel swear allegiance to the West Canadian Crown upon joining. In addition, all officers are commissioned in the name of the monarch.
