The Representative of Vishwamitra to Greece (Hindi: विश्वामित्र का यूनान में प्रतिनिधि, Greek: Αντιπρόσωπος της Vishwamitra στην Ελλάδα), formerly known as the Ambassador of Vishwamitra to Greece is the official representative of the Rashtradhyaksh and the government of Vishwamitra in Greece and the head of the representative office in Greece. The position is currently held by Aurora Twinkle since 6 November 2024.
The representative and chief of mission is a member of the diplomatic corps of Vishwamitra. Vishwamitra unilaterally recognized Greece by a presidential decree on 1 January 2017, however, since the recognition is not currently reciprocated, the position is - at present - unaccredited, and serves a primarily ceremonial role. The duties of the representative includes representing the interests of the Rashtradhyaksh and the government of Vishwamitra in Greece and catering the interests of the non-residential (overseas) citizens of Vishwamitra residing in Greece or are of Greek origin.
The position was first created on 3 February 2021 with the appointment of Alcibiades Ionian as the ambassador to Greece. The position of the representative was created on 15 October 2024.
History
The position of the ambassador was first created on 3 February 2021 along with the creation of a full-fledged mission. The first ambassador was Alcibiades Ionian who served in office until his dismissal on grounds of inactivity in September 2021 and was succeeded by Thomas Marios, who also served as the Secretary of the Armed Forces Council and ex-officio defence secretary. In March 2022, Quintus De Vitaliis was appointed to succeed Marios who was then appointed as Consul-General in Agrinio. Vitaliis was also appointed as non-resident ambassador to the neighbouring states of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Croatia. However, he was dismissed from services in April 2023 leading to his departure from the nation.
The position fell vacant following his removal and a month later, all diplomatic missions accredited to macronations which are unilaterally recognized by Vishwamitra were reorganized to honorary status. On 28 February 2024, the Ministry of External Affairs announced the dissolution of all honorary missions, thereby discharging all honorary diplomats from their office.
The representative office in Greece was established on 14 October 2024 and Quintus De Vitaliis was re-appointed as the head of the mission for the second time. He was also assigned the concurrent charge of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. He was relieved of his duties on 27 October 2024, and was later succeeded by Aurora Twinkle on 6 November 2024.
