Areas, commonly (though unofficially) known as autonomous areas for specificity and to avoid confusion with council areas, are special divisions of Princian provinces that are designated on the authority of governor-generals (leaders of divisional provinces) or by an act to form an autonomous government subordinate to the provincial level. Seats in each area's government are allocated from the district-level results of the most recent unitary election, with the resultant leader of said government known as a premier. Areas currently hold the ability to pass limited by-laws within their jurisdiction (at each governor-general's discretion as laid out in an area's royal charter of autonomy), levy value-added tax (VAT) and, if they so choose, assume responsibility for some of the state operations which would be by-default administered by the Filorux Group S.C. and/or Dee Group S.C. Areas must also maintain a territorial police force, separate from Princia's national force, charged with enforcing both area-specific by-laws and the laws of the nation. Since the establishment of the first area, the Brikkad Area in the Home Province of Addersonheath on 29th April 2020, (originally intended to be a sui generis division) and the creation of a standard model upon each governor-general's reception of the power to mandate their establishment, areas have developed into a similar state of affairs to the autonomous communities of Spain, despite not being the first-level division of Princia. At present, five areas have been designated within the Union Protectorate of Allisterloo and home provinces of Cathairo-Pempire & Addersonheath. Areas were previously established under the direct authority of the Prince's Order, but since 29th April 2022 this authority has been delegated to each province's governor-general bar Stonne and Parvusmount which are led by first ministers and as such do not have the ability to designate areas due to their existing provincial autonomy being similar to that of areas themselves.
