Dubovia, officially the Dubovian Socialist Republic (Slovak: Dubovská socialistická republika), is a socialist micronation, which borders with Slovakia and Italy. It is a federation of St. George Socialist Republic and Caldé Socialist Republic, following a referendum on March 30th and 31st 2024.
Dubovia was founded in August 2023 by Mišo, together with Esty Carpentieri and Tobey Wyles.
Etimology
Dubovia is named after the Czechoslovak leader Alexander Dubček, known as one of the leading figures of the Prague Spring.
History
The Dubovian Socialist Republic was founded in August 2023, when Mišo and Esty formed a Provisional Government. Not long after, Tobey Wyles joined the republic and became the new prime minister.
On November 10th, a new constitution was passed and the country functioned well, until Mišo decided to rework the Government in a chaotic manner, which caused loss of citizens and basically total reorganisation.
A new constitution was approved in a referendum on March 31st. It established the current federalist structure and reformed the overall political organisation.
Legislative and presidential elections were scheduled for April 6th and April 7th.
Politics
Dubovia is a federative republic with a multi-party system. The most important institution is the bicameral Federal Assembly, which acts as the legislature. It is composed of the Chamber of the People (lower house) and the Chamber of the Republics (upper house). Due to lack of citizens, only the lower house is so far active. The President is the executive head of state. The President's powers are to represent Dubovia in foreign affairs, oversee defence and security and cooperate with Government on the implementation of policies. As the Republic is a semi-presidential republic, the President is not a mere figurehead, but an executive figure with important prerogatives. The Government is the highest federal executive institution, it is headed by the Prime Minister and is accountable to the Federal Assembly. The Government oversees domestic, social, internal and similar policies, making the Prime Minister responsible for them.
Parties
Dubovia has three parties. The Dubovian Labour Party is the current leading and ruling party. Non-Socialist values are allowed as long they don’t plot to abolish the Socialist Democracy. The only non-socialist party is the National Independence Party led by Wepe. The Dubovian Labour Party and the People’s Marxist Organisation are part of the Socialist Front, a coalition which aims to preserve the Dubovian Socialist Democracy and the principles of Dubovian Socialism, on which the state is founded.
Diplomatic relations
Dubovia is a founding member of the Organization of Democratic and Free Micronations. It has informal ties with exile government of Norton, Pinang and Ostton.
