The Dominion of Sayville (French: Dominion de Sayville) is a dominion of the Kingdom of Powhatan located in Sayville, New York. Despite not being a sovereign state, the Dominion is a member of the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions.[1]
Etymology
The Dominion of Sayville is named after the hamlet of Sayville. Sayville takes its name from the neighboring hamlet of Sayville, which acquired its name following a misspelling of "Seaville" in 1838.[2]
History
Origins
The Dominion of Sayville originated as the Grand Duchy of Sayville, though is considered to be a separate distinct legal entity.[3] Following the ratification of the Dominion of Sayville act by the Privy Council of Powhatan on the 23rd of February, the Grand Duchy ceased to exist and the Dominion of Sayville was formed, serving as an Autonomous Region.[4]
On the 15th of March, the Dominion joined the Commonwealth of Sayvillian Regions.[1]
Abdication of the Prince
On the 10th of August, Prince Brady of Powhatan announced his abdication from the throne of Powhatan.[5] In an announcement later that day by the Governor-General of Sayville, Thomas I of Hrafnarfjall was named the new sovereign.[6]
