The Bicarbonate of Soda, more commonly known as Soda and within the Grand Unified Micronational as the Suspension of Thorin Neal, Sertor Valentinus and Daniel R. refers to a scandal centered around a fictitious micronation applying to several international organisations, most notably the Cupertino Alliance and the Grand Unified Micronational.
The fictional body was operated primarily by Sertor Valentinus, with Thorin Neal and Daniel R. collaborating in minor capacities. The three micronationalists operated under pseudonyms themed after a commercial brand of food-grade sodium bicarbonate sold by Borwick & Sons Limited, a United Kingdom-based manufacturer traditionally held by the Baron Borwick.
After Valentinus revealed to GUM Chair Anthony Clark of the identities of the Soda sockpuppets, Valentinus, Neal and Hamilton were suspended from the Grand Unified Micronational. The suspensions of Neal and Hamilton were lifted following an emergency quorum, whereas Valentinus was requested to be extended to up to a month.
