The Avalon Institute is an Avalonian state-sponsored political and policy research institute that was created on 11 November 2021 to provide objective news coverage and in-depth reporting on intermicronational affairs. The Avalon Institute features the Avalon Foreign Policy Research Center, a micronational interdisciplinary government and social policy research organization. The Avalon Institute is most notable for its reporting on the Cupertino Alliance’s internal affairs.

James Murray, President of the Republic of Avalonia, founded the Avalon Institute and has been working with the Avalon Institute as Editor-in-Chief of the Foreign Policy Research Center since November 2021.

History

The Avalon Institue was founded by James Murray, incumbent President of the Republic of Avalonia, on 11 November 2021. The Avalon Institute and Foreign Policy Research Center is an Avalonian state-sponsored and funded organization overseen by the Avalonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Avalon Institute publicly released its first article titled Examining the power shift and the future of the Cupertino Alliance under the Foreign Policy Research Center on 11 November 2021. The article analyzed the November’s proposed vote of no confidence against the former Chair of the Cupertino Alliance, Varuna Sriraya.

On 19 December 2021, the Avalon Institute launched the Avalon Civil Liberties Index, a report that analyzes micronational civil liberties based on personal, political, and economic freedom in categories such as government involvement, support, and protection of the individual and collective freedoms of citizens, civil society, and organizations.

Operations

The Avalon Institute operates closely with Avalonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Avalon Institute has an office in Avalonia’s Central Territory within the administrative region. The Avalon Institute contains the subsidiary Foreign Policy Research Center. The Avalon Institute’s Foreign Policy Research Center has worked within organizations such as the Cupertino Alliance and the Grand Unified Micronational to report on issues within the respective organizations.

Avalon Civil Liberties Index

The Avalon Civil Liberties Index (ACLI) is a report published by the Avalon Institute's Foreign Policy Research Center that analyzes micronational civil liberties based on personal, political, and economic freedom. The ACLI evaluates micronations in an external capacity based on a ranged grading scale in ten distinct categories including government involvement, support, and protection of individual and collective freedoms of citizens, civil society, and organizations.
