Arturo Loretti is a journalist, diplomat, and politician from Rino Island, a member of the National Unity Party, and formerly the president of the Social Christian Party. He is currently the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism. Previously, he held the position of Minister of Internal Affairs and temporarily assumed various other portfolios.[1]
Initially, Arturo Loretti was a member of the opposition to President Marco Antonio Rino. In December 2019, he ran as a candidate for the presidency of the National Trade Union Center but was defeated by Jordan Pereira. In May 2020, he was appointed as the Minister of Tourism, joining the government.[2][3] In 2021, he resigned from the party he had founded and joined the National Unity Party.[4]
During the 2022 elections, he internally assumed the position of "super minister," taking over all government portfolios, as a result of the resignation of his colleagues to run for various positions.[5]
Upon assuming the presidency of Anastasio López, Arturo Loretti was confirmed in the Ministry of Tourism, with the addition of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.[6] In March 2023, he swapped positions with Minister Carlos Sancho Santana, taking over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[7]
