The United Federation Armed Forces, sometimes the Armed Forces of Aumarea, are the military forces of the United Federation of Aumarea, responsible for the defence of Aumarea. They also promote the UF's wider interests abroad. It is made up of six branches and each of the different military services is assigned a role and domain. The President of the United Federation is the commander-in-chief of the armed forces and forms military policy with the Department of Defence.
History
The armed forces were officially established on 19 March 2023. It was created after a meeting between the president and minister of defence took place the day prior. In the meeting they decided to establish the armed forces and confirmed the branched were to be formed.
Structure
Presidential command over the UF Armed Forces is established in Article II of the Constitution whereby the president is named commander-in-chief of the army and navy and the militia of the several states.
The military chain of command flows from the President of the United Federation to the Minister of Defence, to the Chief of Defence Staff.
The Chiefs of Staff Committee, although outside the operational chain of command, is the senior-most military body in the United Federation Armed Forces. It is led by the Chief of Defence Staff, who is the military head of the armed forces and principal advisor to the president and minister of defence on military matters.
Service Branches
The United Federation Armed Forces is composed of six coequal military service branches. Each of the different military services is assigned a role and domain and the Chief of Defence Staff and Minister of Defence have overall remit for leading the armed forces in accordance with the president's administration.
Army
The United Federation Army is the United Federation Armed Forces' land force. The Army serves as the Armed Forces principal land service, responsible for conducting land warfare operations. The army is commanded by the Chief of the General Staff.
The five main missions of the army are:
- Prompt and Sustained Land Combat
- Combined Arms Operations
- Special Operations
- Set and Sustain Theatre for Joint Forces
- Integral National, Multinational and Joint Power on Land
Marine Corps
The United Federation Marine Corps (UFMC) serves as the UF Armed Forces' naval land force, responsible for executing amphibious warfare and operating in the maritime littorals in support of the UF Navy. They are typically seen as a commando capable force. The marine corps is commanded by the Commandant Marine Corps.
The two primary missions of the marine corps are:
- Seizure or Defence of Advanced Naval Bases and Other Land Operations to Support Campaigns
- Development of Tactics and Technique and Equipment In Accordance with the Army and Air Force
The United Federation Navy (UFN) is the United Federation Armed Forces' maritime force. The navy is the United Federation's principal maritime service, responsible for maritime warfare operations. The navy is commanded by the Chief of the Naval Staff.
The five primary functions of the navy are:

- Sealift
Air Force
The United Federation Air Force (UFAF) is the United Federation Armed Forces' air force. It is commanded by the Chief of the Air Staff.
The five core missions of the Air Force are:
- Air Superiority
- Global Surveillance, Intelligence and Reconnaissance
- Rapid Global Mobility
- Command and Control
- Global Strike
Space Force
The United Federation Space Force (UFSF) is the United Federation Armed Forces' space force. The United Federation Space Force is the principal space service, responsible for space warfare operations. The Space Force is commanded by the Chief of the Space Staff.
The five major operational programs for the Space Force are:
- Space Security
- Combat Power Projection
- Space Mobility and Logistics
- Information Mobility
- Space Domain Awareness
Coast Guard
The United Federation Coast Guard (UFCG) is the United Federation Armed Forces' maritime security, maritime search and rescue, and maritime law enforcement force. The Cost Guard is commanded by the Commandant & Vice Commandant Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard has six major operational mission programs:
- Maritime Responce
- Maritime Law Enforcement
- Maritime Prevention
- Maritime Transport Management
- Maritime Security
- Defence Operations
Personnel
The United Federation Armed Forces is an all-volunteer military force. Conscription, however, can be enacted at the president's request and with Congress' approval.
As in most militaries, members of the Aumarean Armed Forces hold a rank, either that of officer, warrant officer or enlisted, to determine seniority and eligibility for promotion. Those who have served are known as veterans. Rank names may be different between services, but they are matched to each other by their corresponding paygrade. Officers who hold the same rank or paygrade are distinguished by their date of rank to determine seniority, while officers who serve in certain positions of office of importance set by law, outrank all other officers in active duty of the same rank and paygrade, regardless of their date of rank.
Rank Structure
Rank in the United Federation Armed Forces is split into two distinct categories: officers and enlisted personnel. Officers are the leadership of the military, holding commissions from the President of the United Federation and confirmed to their rank by the Senate. Enlisted personnel constitute the majority of the armed forces, serving as specialists and tactical-level leaders until they become senior non-commissioned officers or senior petty officers. Military ranks across the services can be compared by UF Uniformed Services pay grade or NATO rank code.
Order of Precedence
Under Department of Defence regulation, the various components of the UF Armed Forces have a set order of seniority, which is typically as follows:
