The Valencian Republic is a micronation located in Central Florida. It controls one small piece of land, which consists of the capital distric and some surrounding territories. It was declared on 6 April 2021. It has a resident population of four.
Etymology
Valencia is named after Valencia, an autonomous community of Spain.
Government and politics
Valencia is a representative democracy. Every four months, the citizens of Valencia elect a Chamber of Deputies, using proportional representation. The Chamber of Deputies elects the President of the Valencian Republic every 10 months, and also provides confidence to the Prime Minister.
Branches of government
The three branches of government are the following:
- Executive: The Prime Minister, their cabinet, and the President.
- Legislative: The Chamber of Deputies.
- Judiciary: The High Court of Justice and Constitutional Council.
Executive
The Prime Minister (officially President of the Council of Ministers) is the head of government of Valencia. The Council of Ministers is the main organ of the government, and is also the main executive and decision-making body.
The President of the Valencian Republic is a mostly ceremonial head of state, whose only true executive powers are to appoint the Prime Minister and ministers, set the election date for the Chamber of Deputies, and to sign bills into law.
Legislature
Deputies of the Chamber of Deputies are elected every four months. They vote on bills, amendments to the constitution, impeaching certain members of the government, and most importantly supply confidence to the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. At the beginning of a session, the Chamber of Deputies elects a Chair of the Chamber of Deputies, who moderates debates, holds votes, and breaks ties.
Judiciary
The courts of Valencia must enforce the law and uphold the constitution of Valencia. Judges are nominated by the Council of Ministers and appointed by the President of the Republic. A judge is appointed for a one-year mandate, and must be re-nominated and re-appointed if they wish to server another year. The only existing courts in Valencia are the High Court of Law (which deals with constitutional offenses) and the High Court of Justice (which deals with criminal and civil offenses).
