The Speaker of Zepranan Parliament or the Speaker of the Parliament of Zeprana is the speaker of the Parliament of Zeprana which is the bicameral Legislature of the Republic of Zeprana. The speaker of the Parliament is typically the leader of the President of Zeprana's Political Party or the leader of the largest party, with the Speaker being appointed by the President of the Republic of Zeprana. The current speaker of the Parliament is Zoe Madgett who was nominated to the position on August 19, 2021, which is the same day the nation was founded on.
The Parliament's Speaker is typically and widely regarded as the third most powerful person in the Republic of Zeprana with them being third in line for the Presidency of Zeprana. The Speaker of the Parliament is also a member of the Cabinet of the Republic of Zeprana.
Just like in the United Kingdom, The speaker presides over the House's debates, determining which members may speak and which amendments are selected for consideration. The speaker is also responsible for maintaining order during debate, and may punish members who break the rules of the House. Speakers remain strictly non-partisan and renounce all affiliation with their former political parties when taking office and afterwards.
