The Royal Queensland Marines Corps (RQMc) were ounded on 3 January 2016 and are a unit directly to the Royal Queensland Navy are responsible for invading enemy areas landing and seizing the area to establish beachhead Like a naval infantry unit Marines are specially trained for beachhead raids by landing from ships at sea to shore. This makes the Marines one of the first units to enter frontline battlefields, where fatality rates are always high. The Marine Corps has a reputation for being a highly disciplined and efficient combat unit compared to regular soldiers.

History

The Royal Queensland Marines Corps was established on 3 January 2016 on the recommendation of the Defense Council. It was established to carry out important missions in the country and overseas territories and is a military force capable of both foot and river warfare.

In 2016, Princess Charlotte, Duchess of St. Andrews was nominated by the Defense Council to the official position of Captain General of the Royal Queensland Marines, becoming the first woman to hold the military's highest position before she relinquished the appointment on 16 January 2018, this position was passed to Prince Albert, Duke of Sembilan. The position of Captain General of the Royal Queensland Marines is the only ceremonial position remaining in the military after 2022 the Royal Queensland Navy were dissolved and simultaneously abolished the position of Lord High Admiral.

Today, the Royal Queensland Marines Corps is currently commanded by Maritime and Cyber Command and continues to carry out the same missions and regularly collaborates on military exercises with the Queenslandian Ground Forces.
