The Republican Party of Wamong was a political party in the Democratic Republic of Wamong. It was the only opposition party to the Working People's Duighanist Party, the most powerful party in the country. It is a member of the People's Front for a Free Wamong, a coalition of parties in the country which is headed by the Working People's Duighanist Party. The party is lead by Johnni Duighan and Elle Duighan, Harold Duighan's parents. It was revived on 10 June 2021, after a coup overthrew the WPDP's government, but it was dissolved again just 8 days later, after the WPDP and RPW merged to reform the Independent Party of Wamong.
History
Foundation
The party was founded on 9 April 2021, and participated in the 2021 Snap Legislature Elections in the country. It gained 43% of the vote, and won 2 seats in the People's Council, and 2 seats in the Economic Council. It was successful for a time, until numerous constitutional changes caused it to lose it's influence, and it gradually became a puppet to the Working People's Duighanist Party.
Dissolution
It was eventually banned after yet another constitutional change, when the WPDP was officially made the only legal political party, forcing all other political parties to be dissolved. It was dissolved on 21 May 2021.
Influence
The party was influential for a time, when it held about 2 seats in the legislature, but it was quickly snuffed out after the Working People's Duighanist Party, which controlled the government, re-organized the seats, and seized all control over the legislature. It now has 0 seats in the legislature and the supreme court.
