The Republic of Juniperia, more commonly known as Juniperia (and rarely as New Setara), was a micronation located in southern California in the city of Irvine. Besides its Mainland Territories, Juniperia claims 3 islands including, island off the coast of Laguna Beach. Juniperia declared independence on 1 September 2022.. Juniperia identifies as a republic, but closely followed the ideals of ergatism, an ideology founded by Conor Newmann, as well as identifying as de-facto as "Socialist", it follows the thought of free healthcare, free services, and Rosa Luxembourg thought.

Juniperia shared a border with the United States of America, but also shares a border with the Federated States of Gapla, after numerous incidents between the leaders of Setara, Juniperia, and Gapla, relations became sour, resulting in a "Cold War" scenario. The two nations fought a brief war in 2022.

Etymology

Juniperia was named after Junipero Serra, a Franciscan priest who spread Christianity across California, although the nation's founders were not Christian themselves, the Republic regarded Junipero Serra as the "father of California"

In the United States, Junipero Serra is taught in the third or fourth grades, and may occasionally take a trip to nearby missions, it was here that the founders of Juniperia learned about Serra.

History

Juniperia has a long history, and could trace its origins to the Old Westavian Kingdoms, beginning in 2003, but more recently to Setara and the Mogunesian Empire. Juniperia was first referred to by Westavian Folk in the semi-legendary Westavian Chronicle, being referred to as "The Land of Junipero Ser[r]a" (Lánat Ayunīp-Sár).

Under Westavia

The United Westavian Empire briefly established Juniperia as a march in late 2018, but do to limited presence, the area was abandoned. Juniperia though, was consistently referred to in later stories.

Under Mogunesia

The Mogunesian Empire had little presence in the area, yet many people considered a military expedition, however following the Sack of Nesia, this was abolished. The Provisional Government of Mogunesia, not know as that, merely as a rump state decided on embarking to Juniperia and establishing it as the de-facto capital of the Empire, but this was squashed when Jeanniennois spies found out and sabotaged the idea. One visit was made by Mogunesia, in which a sand castle was made, it was destroyed by an American civilian.

Setara

Main Article: Setara
The Republic, and Later Kingdom of Setara were physically centered in Juniperia, which was a province of Setara. Various actives occurred, and a flag was planted, but it was destroyed by Hurricane Kay in mid 2022. Setara experienced a surge in population resulting in a lot of citizens in Juniperia.

Juniperia Question

Iêsan Jéan, the Chancellor of Setara saw a decline in usage, and to prevent the death of Setara, he considered withdrawing Juniperia from Setara, and merging it into Gapla via a Special Autonomous Region, Following an executive order in August, he resigned as chancellor and made himself Lord Exchequer, and began to officialize the process with Gapla. But due to a change of mind, he withdrew, and created the Kingdom of Juniperia. Following several later incidents with Gapla officials, the process of becoming a SAR was abolished, and relations began to sour.

Politics and government

Juniperia was a stern follower of Monroism and Ergatism, and also was based on a socialist system in which the central government is strong, the market was free, and follows some liberalist ideals such as free healthcare, although lacks power to initiate that.

Citizenship Attainment

A citizen may attain citizenship by going to the Republic of Juniperia website and completing a form, but many don't want to and in that case, may be applicable for speedy application.

Congress

Main Article: Peoples Congress of Juniperia

The Congress is outlined in the constitution as the main legislative authority of the Republic, it is responsible for passing bills and enacting laws. It is elected once every two years and meets at the Grand House, it is currently dominated by independents and the JPDU.

Law and order

Juniperia's court structure is composed of a single Supreme Court, which takes precedence over major issues, or issues regarding foreign officials who have violated Juniperian laws while in Juniperian jurisdiction, and local courts which take precedence over local issues. So far there have been no landmark cases.

Foreign relations

Juniperia has an open foreign policy, but is not one to nations it deems "imperialist". In the constitution, 3 requirements are set for consideration of an organization or state to be recognized and allied.

• The state must have no human rights abuses.
• The state must be democratic and respect its people.
• The state must adhere to the policies that the Juniperian people respect.

So far, Juniperia is allied to the Peoples Republic of Idiocia, and the Republic of Al-Bustan, but recognizes most U.N member states.

Relations with certain states

According to a statement made by the President, France was deemed "Imperialist" for its colonization of Guiana. And Pakistan was deemed a terrorist state for its "illegal" annexation of Kashmir.

Military

The Juniperian Army was reformed on November 29th 2022 after the nation fought a brief war with Gapla, the Military was re-organized and ranks were set out as well as guidelines for war. Juniperia currently posses small aerial defence arms The Juniperian Armed forces is divided into 5 branches.

Army

The Juniperian army is the primary land force of the Republic, it is responsible for little fighting, it possesses infantry and varied regiments armed with airsoft and other weapons. The Army possesses small missiles and arms.

Air Force

the Air Force is the most developed of the Juniperian Military, possessing 4 Armed RC Jets, and 2 Armed Helicopters.

Junicosmos

Junicosmos is a state agency/company made the survey the high atmosphere and act as the primary space agency for the Republic. It is technically an organization though funded almost entirely by the Central Government. Junicosmos is currently developing the Juniper One a low-atmosphere data collection module.

Naval Forces

The Juniperian naval forces is the primary force in the seas, rivers, and lakes of Juniperia. It is centered in Sepulvedia Naval Base and consists currently of 18 "Shells" (Small ships usually loaded with fire and explosives), and 2 Dreadnoughts (Large Ships).

Intelligence Force

The Intelligence force, or "JINTEL" is responsible primarily for the protection of Juniperian interests online, acting through cyber attacks and warfare, it was not used during the war with Gapla. It is currently headed by Allen S. JINTEL is often used for foreign intelligence gathering.

Geography and climate

Juniperia is home to various flora and fauna, most notably Coyotes, which inhabit the areas of Outer Juniperia. Fire scars on various hills have left the area dry, but on the valley floor, trees and flowers bloom in the spring.

Irvine's climate is famous for being sunny, Irvine falls under the continental-arid climate, with hot summers, wet fall and winter. Irvine gets views of various cumulonimbus congestus forming over the Modjeska Canyon. During the fall-winter season, various large cumulonimbus incus and capillati may consolidate and drop heavy rain, hail, and lightning as well as occasional microbursts. California in general is famous for its fire season, during 2018, the Silverado Fire resulted in early schools and homes of Orchard Hills being evacuated.

Economy

Juniperia's economic currency is the Juniperian Dollar, abbreviated F, $F, JD, or JDF$, which equates to around 0.5 USD. Juniperia exports bricks made of lime, mud, and other materials. Juniperian currency is not currently in use at a popular level. Juniperian economy is similar to that of the PRC, being one in which the market is free and citizens are allowed to obtain wealth. Regardless of a citizen's status or wealth they must pay an equal tax, leading to more economic freedom. Juniperian businesses are managed through the JuniperiaCommision, a state-owned company that files permits for businesses.

Culture and media

Juniperian culture began in the Mogunesian Empire, various legends and myths were told, they were often adapted from Greek Mythology. Juniperians enjoy a variety of cuisine, most notably Indian Cuisine. Juniperians enjoy classical music the most, with rap coming in second. The national dish is rice, and the national drink is Water. Juniperians are "very patriotic" according to a micropatriologist study on the nation. A majority of Juniperians are Hindu, with Christianity being a minority. Asians are a massive majority of the population as well, many being Chinese, followed by Vietnamese People. Juniperia's official news channel is the state-sponsored JuniperiaTV, making local documentaries, and news films, The Republic of Juniperia Website also features a news channel. Juniperians also enjoy video games and their music.

Cuisine

Many Juniperians, during the day, eat school lunch, usually classical American cuisine, occasionally, Juniperians enjoy pick-up-sticks, which is delivered to the school. Juniperians also eat foods from their respective cultures, with rise being a staple food throughout Juniperia.

Patriotism and National Identity

Polling results show that 7/8ths of Juniperians intend to run for an office. Juniperians are often enjoying their rights, there is currently no opposition groups in the country. Many Juniperians share a national identity in the flag, one student in 2022 drew the flag on a school bench, which made local headlines.

Language

All Juniperians speak English, but the Juniperian script exists for ceremonial purposes, it is related closely to latin and Hungarian, though the reason being unknown, it is known to have evolved glottochronologically from Old Westavian Languages.

Religion

Many Juniperians are Christian, with Spirituality and Hinduism coming in their respective order. Juniperia has a lenient policy on Religion, being a secular state.
