Gerway, officially the Republic of Gerway and sometimes the Gerwayan Republic, is a self declared sovereign state often known as a micronation by external observers. It is located in the United Kingdom and was established on 29 April 2023.
The nation operates constitutionally under a semi-presidential system with a president as head of state and a chancellor as head of government. The national legislature is a bicameral parliament being made up of a senate and chamber of deputies. Gerway labels itself as secessionist and its government operates and acts as if its the government of a recognised state while conforming to macronational law.
History
Gerway was established on 29 April 2023.
Government and Politics
Gerway is constitutionally a semi-presidential republic.
Presidency
The president sits as the executive head of state. The presidency sits as commander-in-chief of the armed forces, the president also appoints all ministers including the chancellor, vetos or assents to all bills passed by parliament. The president can also call parliamentary elections, and call and dissolve parliament as well as pass decrees.
The presidency is the highest office of the republic.
Chancellery
The chancellor is the head of government. They sit as a member of parliament and are appointed by the president. They lead the government and chair the cabinet. They nominate members of parliament for office as ministers and set the government's agenda.
Parliament
Parliament is the legislature of the republic. It is bicameral - consisting of a chamber of deputies and senate. The Chancellor and cabinet, constitutionally, sit as members of parliament, normally in the chamber of deputies. The chamber is primary legislative chamber of parliament, and the senate is acts more for checks and balances - despite this, a simple majority is needed in both houses for bills to pass.
Culture
Gerwayan culture is influenced by some aspects of British culture and aspects of 20th century German culture. English serves as the official language. Press and media are currently state controlled - with the primary media and press being produced by the Gerwayan Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

Gerway is currently located in the United Kingdom. However, the republic is looking for a permanent land-claim.
