The Regions of Balzi (Balzian: Rehiyon dos Balsi) are the top political and administrative divisions of the Republic of Balzi. There are 18 regions in total, each divided into component cities, as the constitution prohibits independent cities from existing outside regional governance. Each region is administered by an elected body known as the Regional Authority Council, which is composed of mayors from the component cities and led by an elected governor and vice governor. All regions were integrated on July 27, 2024, during the First Mass Territorial and Regional Integration Convention.

The political structure in the Regions of Balzi revolves around the elected officials who manage local governance. Each region has mayors who represent their cities in the National Regional Council, where they collaborate on regional issues. Governors appoint directors for departments like administration and information, allowing for focused management of regional concerns.

Government

Each region is governed by two main branches of government: the executive and legislative branches. The executive branch is led by the regional governor, who serves as the chief executive and is elected for a one-year term, with a limit of two consecutive terms. The governor appoints directors for various regional departments, including administration, information, and legal offices.

The legislative branch, known as the Konseho dos Awtoridad Rehiyonales (KAR), is unicameral and comprises mayors elected from component cities. The vice governor presides over the KAR, which meets for the same term length as the governor.

Judicial matters are handled separately by the Supreme Court of Balzi, with each region hosting at least one branch of a Regional Trial Court, exemplified by the Region of Ruzka.

All regions are part of the National Regional Council, where governors convene to discuss issues impacting regional governance. The President of Balzi collaborates with regional administrators through the Department of Inter-Regional Affairs.

Integration and Secession

On July 27, 2024, all existing regions were integrated during the First Mass Territorial and Regional Integration Convention (MTRIC). This framework was established through Executive Orders No. 8 and No. 9, signed by President Carl Miguel Salgado Victa. These orders outlined the legal and procedural standards for incorporating new territories into Balzi.

A notable aspect of Balzi’s governance is the management of inactive regions. For instance, Region Klenburg faced inactivity when its governor, Kirt Jade, withdrew from his role. It was later revived under new leadership with Governor Felix Tomado.

According to the 2024 Constitution of Balzi, all territories that are integrated are considered “perpetual,” meaning they cannot withdraw from the Republic. This provision reinforces the notion of unity and stability within the regions, ensuring that once integrated, the regions remain an integral part of the Republic without the possibility of secession. Despite lighthearted remarks from some regional governors about the potential for resignation, no significant secession movements have occurred among the 18 regions, reflecting a commitment to the unity of the Republic of Balzi.

Despite discussions of integration with the independent country of Ravenia, no formal responses have been received.
