  • The Pekatan War is an ongoing conflict over the Republic of Pekatan being fought between a gang of 12-14 year olds known as ‘The Radicals’ and the Pekantish government and its allies. The war began on 3 February 2023 when a number of the Radicals found out about a secret armoury in Pekatan and wanted to check it out despite being told that they weren’t allowed to go as the armoury was a classified area. This then resulted in mild skirmishes that later resulted in almost all of Pekatan being destroyed.

The war is ongoing due to an attempt by the Sprinske Republic to reclaim Pekatan for the Pekantish government on 16 February 2023 and attempted to repair some of the damage done, but was only moderately successful.

    Timeline

On 3 February 2023, Kaiser Aaron I of Sprinskè and President Matteo Catania of the Mafia Republic were transporting a large piece of metal from New Montréal in the Sprinske Republic to Libidine, the capital of Pekatan. This piece of metal was being delivered to the armoury in Libidine, which was a classified location where the Kolniaric Union’s nations stored their weapons, mainly consisting of wooden and metal objects averaging at 3 feet in length which were to be used as ‘weapons’ by the nations in the event of a war. This was a highly classified location, but as they were transporting the large piece of metal, a gang of 12-14 year olds began following them, they wanted to be chased, but Kaiser Aaron I told one of them who was his friend and a veteran of the Sprinske Revolution that he was busy. He told him about the armoury, but also mentioned not to tell anyone about it. The entire group found out about it and three of them (including the one Kaiser Aaron I had spoken to) began following Aaron I to Pekatan.

Aaron I reached Western Pekatan and met with the Master of Pekatan and the President of the Mafia Republic, along with two soldiers from his own nation. The group also reached Pekatan shortly after, but were told that they were not permitted to enter as only the most trustworthy individuals were allowed to enter. They demanded entry, resulting in a small and brief skirmish that resulted in two of them leaving, the one that remained was the one who Aaron I had spoken to, and he insisted on seeing Libidine. As he was a Sprinske Revolution veteran and a close friend of Kaiser Aaron I, the forces reluctantly agreed to let him enter. After visiting Libidine, the leaders of the countries and the member of the group who demanded entry began to walk back to Western Pekatan. Near the exit, the member of the group who came with the leaders of the three nations then said that he would tell everyone about the armoury and get the rest of the group to steal all of the weapons there, before trying to run away, but he was knocked down when one of the soldiers threw an unfinished shillelagh at his legs. He then told them that he was only joking, and commented on the ‘immaculate’ through of the unfinished shillelagh.

    Battle of Libidine

Kaiser Aaron I of Sprinskè became ill shortly after the skirmishes, and so returned to Rio De Sprinskè. Shortly after he left, the Battle of Libidine commenced. The same gang of 12-14 year olds who had demanded entry into Libidine before, by this point known as ‘The Radicals’ rather than using the derogatory Scots term ‘neds’ made their way to Pekatan, this time numbering around 5 or 6. They outnumbered the Pekantish army, numbering around 2-3, who were expecting some kind of return from the group. Neither the Sprinske Republic or the Mafia Republic were present at the battle. The Radicals split into two smaller groups, one attacking Libidine while the other fought with Pekatan’s army in West Pekatan. The Radicals who were in West Pekatan began targeting the civilian buildings in the area. The Pekantish Shrine, a major part of Pekatan’s religion which even held ‘Soseje’ who is the central figure of Pekantish religion, was a major target, as the Radicals began trying to destroy it. Soseje was stolen by the Radicals and destroyed, then the bottles of Buckfast that surrounded him, which were also part of the religion, were smashed or knocked over. The shrine itself was completely destroyed, with different pieces of it being found as far away as the Sprinske Republic. This act was met with condemnation as attacking places of worship is considered as a war crime under the Geneva convention, and gave reason for a number of the Kolniaric nations to declare the Radicals as a terrorist organisation. A tower built to collect water for Pekatan was destroyed, along with a civilian sitting area. After around 20 minutes of fighting, the Radicals won with their numerically greater force, and most of the weapons in Libidine were stolen and broken. Later, some of the weapons that were saved from the attack were transported to another classified location.
