The Party for Democracy and Socialism was a Democratic and Libertarian socialist political party in the Pinangese Republic. The party was originally founded on 10 January 2023 by Esty Carpentieri and Mišo after the Progressive Bloc split due to infighting between the communist and socialist factions. The party merged with the Pinang Communist Party on 22 July 2023, forming the Party of the Radical Left (Pinang).
History
Esty Carpentieri was elected as the first General Secretary on its First Congress. After Esty took break from micronationalism, Mišo became the General Secretary and called for a Second Congress. The Second Congress reelected Mišo as the General Secretary and elected Mišo, Ezio Auditore and May Junkin to the newly established Central Committee. Shortly after, May resigned as First Secretary (deputy leader). The Central Committee elected Ezio as First Secretary and Nicolas Caiazzo as Secretary of the Central Committee.
Then, Mišo declared the dissolution of the party and left Pinangese politics, but Ezio Auditore refounded it with Ludwig Collins.
The party formed a joint list with the Metropinangese regionalist party FDUAS in the 2023 Pinang Constituent Assembly Election and obtained four seats.
On 9 April 2023, the Central Committee approved a new constitution and on 12 April 2023 Ezio Auditore was elected for a second term for secretary with 5 votes out of 7.
Ideology
The PDS is a Left-wing to Far left party. According to the Article 1 of its constitution, the party is Democratic Socialist, Libertarian Socialist, Eurocommunist, Progressive and Neofrontist. It strongly opposes to Capitalism and Marxism-Leninism and advocates for a ‘’Pinangese way to Socialism’’. The party has also Libertarian Marxist, Syndicalist and Left-wing nationalist factions.
