The War Order of Virtus Militaris (Polish: Order Virtus Militaris) is the highest military decoration of the Cheskgariyan-Litvanian Commonwealth and the third-highest federal honour of the same. It was established on 16 October 2022 by the Honours Reform Act, and replaced the Order of the Cross of Saint Stephen, which was a diplomatic honour. It is awarded to military personnel, both domestic and foreign (though rarely), for acts of gallantry in battle, longtime meritorious service, and military skill. It is awarded in three grades, corresponding to the achievement of the recipient. It is inspired by the Polish order Virtuti Militari.
Grades
The order exists in three grades:
- Knight's Cross; awarded to a commander for exceptional performance in battle, or a victory during a campaign.
- Officer's Cross; awarded to a commander or enlisted soldier for longtime service, military skill, or zeal in battle.
- Commander's Cross; awarded to commanders and enlisted soldiers for acts of gallantry during battle, or meritorious service.
The type of achievement of the recipient determines which grade is awarded.
