The Nyeusi Socialist Republic, also referred to as the Socialist Republic of Nyeusi, is a micronation in North America, specifically New York. The micronation was established on January 31, 2024, by its first president Jacob Gath. The nation is comprised of three subdivisions, known as Nkrumah, OmaliX, and Mjiwa Stalen. 'Mjiwa Stalen', or Stalin City, is the name of the single city within Nkrumah.
The Nyeusi Socialist Republic is a socialist micronation, and its constitution proclaims it to be against imperialism, capitalism, and racism. The president of the republic is the highest official in the nation, serving as the head of state. Below the president, the premier administers the internal functions of the government, and appoints the prefect of Mjiwa Stalen. The prefect administers city functions and the laws within the territory. A legislature is expected to be established by February or March of 2024.
Being a left-wing micronation, the Nyeusi Socialist Republic is against micronations that imitate the imperialist legacy of Western Europe. The republic is anti-monarchist and anti-imperialist, and currently has no diplomatic allies, although is looking to join organizations advancing socialism in micronationalism.
Etymology
In Swahilli, the word "black" translates to "Nyeusi." The Nyeusi Socialist Republic is a Black-majority state, and it highly values African American and African history and culture.
History
The Nyeusi Socialist Republic was established on January 31, 2024, in New York. Jacob Gath declared himself the president of the nation, and proclaimed that other government positions would be created soon. The Socialist Party of Nyeusi (SPN) was created by Gath on February 1, 2024.
On February 11, it was announced that elections for the positions of premier, the parliament, and the executive (advisors to the president and premier) would take place. The newly established People's Party of Nyeusi won two seats in the government, and the Communist and Socialist parties dominated the rest of the government.
Party schism and contemporary history
On February 5, 2024, the Communist Party of Nyeusi was declared, after splitting from the SPN. This came after Komi Miles, the Prefect of Mjiwa Stalen, decided that the SPN's political ambitions were not focused on the issues he and the residents of Mjiwa Stalen were concerned about. The two parties came to an agreement later in the day, and the Communist Party was granted recognition by the government.
In the parliament, both the socialists and communists agreed that the territory belonging to the state of Nkrumah, west of the Ilwlak River, would be made into a new state in order to have better administrative control over the region. On February 7, the state of OmaliX was founded, and the parliament was reformed to have another two seats, so that all states had equal representation in the parliament if elected.
Three days later on February 10, the Socialist Party would suffer another schism when Tobias Arlot formed the People's Party of Nyeusi. The party split due to the increasing Israeli escalation in their war against Gaza, and Arlot's feeling that the Socialist Party was not doing enough to advocate on behalf of the Palestinians. Additionally, the party does not follow Marxism-Leninism like the Communist Party, but instead African Internationalist Socialism. After OmaliX was founded, four Socialist Party members held government positions in the territory, three parliament seats and one position in the executive branch. Following the creation of the People's Party, all of the Omalix Socialist Party members changed their party affiliation to the PPN.
On March 20, following the dissolution of Sect X, Gath decided to consolidate the power of his party. In the Justice Hall, a decision was covertly made to dissolve the Communist and People's Parties and make the Socialist Party the sole ruling party of the nation. This decision sparked protests, and eventually led to the period known as the March Unrest. Additionally, the flag of the party was changed as well.
On March 25, a summit was held between the Nyeusi Socialist Republic and the Socialist Republic of Malus. This summit determined that territorial claims between the two nations overlapped. It was decided that the territories both nations claimed would be jointly-administered.
Politics and government
The government of Nyeusi is a presidential unitary presidential socialist republic, meaning that the nation is a centralized, socialist state in which the president is elected to their office and the premier is selected by the president. Nyeusi is dominated by the Socialist Party of Nyeusi
President
The president of Nyeusi serves as the head of state and leader of the nation. They have the most power in the republic, only truly checked by the justice hall, who can veto decisions made by the president if there is a majority decision. The president serves a total of six months unless they resign, are removed from office, or die.
Premier
The premier is the second most powerful official in Nyeusi and the head of government of the nation. The premier serves as deputy to the president, and effectively their only job is maintaining foreign relations (alongside the president) and acting as an "understudy" of the president.
Parliament of Nyeusi
The Parliament of Nyeusi is the unicameral legislative body of the socialist republic. The parliament creates, debates, and enacts laws in the republic, with potential laws needing a 3/5 majority to pass.

The flag takes inspiration from the flag of the Soviet Union, and officially, the hammer and sickle represents worker unity and cooperation, and the star represents a unified Nyeusi people. Previously, the hammer and sickle on the flag used to be white, and angled so as to emulate the traditional placement of the symbol on a flag. The emblem of the flag is a golden hammer and sickle, angled traditionally. Until February 4, this symbol was red. The civil flag of Nyeusi was adopted after president Gath was inspired by the state flag of the People's Republic of Marhaenia.
