The National Park Service (NPS) is an agency of the United Federation Federal Government within the Department of Internal Affairs. The NPS manages national parks, national monuments and other natural, historical, and recreational properties with certain title designations. The NPS is headquartered in Kosa Federal District.
The agency is charged with a dual role of preserving the ecological and historical integrity of the places entrusted to its management while also making them available and accessible for public use and enjoyment.
History
The National Park Service is one of the oldest non-cabinet department federal agencies. The service was established on 20 April 2023 by the federal government with the intention for it to administer historic federal land. It was established as an agency directly under the federal government until it was moved to under the control of the Department of Internal Affairs instead of the government as a whole.
Offices
The National Park Service is headquartered with the Internal Affairs Department. They are located in Kosa Federal District.
The central office is composed of twelve directorates: director/deputy directors, business services, workforce management, chief information officer, cultural resources, natural resource stewardship, office of the comptroller, park planning, facilities and lands, partnerships and visitor experience, visitor and resource protection, and the Law Enforcement Park Rangers.
The NPS is an operating unit of the Department of Internal Affairs. The NPS Director is appointed by the President of the United Federation and confirmed by the United Federation Senate.
Staff and Volunteers
The National Park Service is made up of a mix of full time staff and part-time volunteers.
Park Rangers
In the NPS there are two types of park rangers - Interpreter Park Rangers and Law Enforcement Park Rangers.
Interpreter park rangers are uniformed employees charged with protecting and preserving areas set aside in the national park service by the United Federation Congress and the President of the United Federation. They provide information to visitors to NPS sites and can teach visitors the history of each site.
Law Enforcement Rangers are a federal law enforcement agency with the powers to enforce federal and state laws in NPS protected areas. The NPS commonly refers to law enforcement operations in the agency as visitor and resource protection.
The head ranger is the Chief Ranger - who is nominated for office by the NPS Director. The Chief Ranger is aided by two Deputy Chief Rangers, one who advises on the Law Enforcement Ranger side and the other who advises on the Interpreter Ranger side.
