The Most Noble and Royal Order of the Sovereign Eagle is a dynastic order granted by the Sovereign Lord Mayor of the Sovereign Municipality of Ameristralia.
It is the highest dynastic order of Ameristralia, above the Royal Order of the Sacred Phoenix and Most Honourable and Venerable Order of the Noble Eagle. The order is granted to the Peers of Ameristralia. The head of state is the Sovereign of the Order.
General information
The order was inspired by the national animal of Ameristralia, the Wedge-tailed eagle. One of the largest eagles in the world and is easily recognisable for its wedge-shaped tail, the Wedge-tailed eagle is a symbol of courage and majesty. The bird features on Ameristralian passports and identification cards, superimposed with the Ameristralian flag. The order is one of two named for the bird; however, they are distinguished by the colour scheme of the ribbons.
There are three grades of the order, each bestowed upon Peers of Ameristralia based on their noble rank. The Sovereign Lord Mayor and their Consort are bestowed the Inquisitor grade. Dukes and Duchesses in their own right are awarded the Knight or Dame grade, while Earls and Baronys are granted the Companion grade of the Order.
Appearance
The ribbon features the colour of royalty, purple with white bands running vertically across the face. The grades of the order are distinguished by the number of stripes. A single stripe surrounding a thick white rectangle is used for the Companion grade. Two stripes surrounding a rectangle signify a Knight or Dame of the Order. Three stripes encompassing a purple rectangle symbolises the Inquisitor grade.
