Etymology
From "Thaler" a silver coin used in Germany.

Exchange rates
The dollar was designed to have convenient exchanges with both us$ and MQℳ. It has a fixed exchange rate of 15/~ (ℳ0.75 or us$1.155), although they are frequently treated as at par in Marcus Cove. It is currently being considered to devalue it to 13/~ to keep it closer in line with the us$.
