Etymology
From "Thaler" a silver coin used in Germany.

The units of the dollar are based off of the united states dollar.

Much like the dukesmark, the dollar does not have the means to make coins.

Exchange rates
The dollar was designed to have convenient exchanges with both us$ and MQℳ. It has a fixed exchange rate of 15/~ (ℳ0.75 or us$1.155), although they are frequently treated as at par in Marcus Cove. It is currently being considered to devalue it to 13/~ to keep it closer in line with the us$.
