The Ambassador of Vishwamitra to the Kingdom of Thailand (Hindi: थाईलैंड अधिराज्य में विश्वामित्र के राजदूत, Thai: เอกอัครราชทูตวิศวมิตร ประจำราชอาณาจักรไทย) is an officer of the Vishwamitran Ministry of External Affairs and the head of the royal diplomatic mission in Thailand in Chiang Mai. The job has the rank and status of an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and is currently Eun Jo, who has held the position since the establishment of the mission on 22 December 2020. The official title of the head of the diplomatic mission is His Illustrious and Royal Vishwamitran Majesty's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand. The ambassador's work is assisted by multiple consulates throughout the country that have visiting and reporting responsibilities, as well as consular and trade matters for the embassy.

The main responsibilities of the ambassador include being the principal representative of the Rashtradhyaksh and the Government of Vishwamitra to the Kingdom of Thailand, and also to present Vishwamitran policies to the Thai-born citizens and to the government, and to report Thai policies and views to the crown and the government, and also to inform all Vishwamitran citizens regarding all major events and news from Thailand. The duties also include directing diplomatic activity in support of trade and for the provision of consular support to Vishwamitran citizens in Thailand and also observe and oversee cultural relations between the two countries.

History

The State of Vishwamitra first officially recognised the Kingdom of Thailand as a sovereign state on 1 January 2017 with the grant of official recognition to other states by a presidential decree issued by then Acting President Sarala Baishya on the recommendation of the government headed by Prime Minister Dhrubajyoti Roy.

On 22 December 2020, the diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Thailand was officially established through a royal decree. Eun Jo was formally appointed as the first Ambassador to Thailand thereupon and has since been serving in his capacity. The embassy in Thailand is located in the city-municipality of Chiang Mai in Chiang Mai province.
