Laskaridia (Westavian: Lāskarīdós) is the former capital city[1] of the Kingdom of Laskaridia and current capital of the Federation of Alturic Territories. It is a cultural and academic center of the Federation and Micronationalism in Southern California. It has been the capital of 2 sovereign states and 3 provinces. The city was founded by a letter-patent from Shahan I, Sovereign of Westavia. Its current Lord-Mayor is Matthew Wu.
Etymology
The name "Laskarid" originates from the medieval Byzantine dynasty, Laskaris. The name also is used for the Laskaridian Flower, a Ruisseuan flower shape. A variant of the word Laskaridia is Laskaria or Lascharia. These terms were coined after the Battle of Laskaridia.
History
The place was a part of the United States before 2015 and was inducted as a place of national importance in Ruisseau in February, but was a city in Ruisseau in March. Before colonization by Spain, it was inhabited by natives for 12,000 years. The first record of the valley area below the city is by Gaspar de Portola, the governor of Spanish California. Isabel II and Ferdinand VII directly issued parcels of land to local nobles and people. Which caused a large shift from Paganism to Catholiscm.
Westavian history
The City saw no conflicts during its period as capital of Westavia. It was the capital for roughly 1 year before it was moved to Suonwiller, then to Asencon, then to Dessau-Bonn. Shahan I, the first Emperor of Westavia, Shahan I used the location for meetings and holding his councils. The city was elevated to capital by a letter patent.
Ruisseauan history
Laskaridia is most famous for being the site of the Battle of Laskaridia, which saw the end of the Neo-Westavian Empire. Laskaridia was also the capital of Ruisseau. It was used for the coronation of John Alexander III.
Transport
Laskaridia is cut in half by the Juniperian road J-13. The Laskaridian road system is authorized and regulated by the Laskaridian Transport Authority. The roads are called highways because of the nation's small size. Most roads are maintained with the exception of Gloucester Highway, which was erected and then abandoned by Shahan II.
