The Islamic Republic of New Batavia, (shortened to just New Batavia.) also known in Dutch as the Islamitische Republiek Nieuw-Batavië, (shortened to just Nieuw-Batavië) is a Dutch-Arabic micronation and successor state of the Islamic Internet Republic, Republic of the Netherlands, and the Virtual United Provinces, founded in 2007, involved in the Micras sector in 2009, and mostly claims the continent of Corum[1]on Micras.
Etymology
The origin of the name of "New Batavia" derives from the micronation of Batavia, (officially the "Sixth" Kingdom of Batavia.[2]) a dominion of the Imperial Republic of Shireroth. This was because a heavy amount of Batavian immigrants, (during the First Republic period.) founded the Federal Kingdom of New Batavia. (a historical province of New Batavia.) Batavia derives from the old Germanic Batavi. The Dutch named many places after the Batavi, like the Batavian Republic.[3]
It was first known as the Virtual United Provinces, then to the Republic of the Netherlands, then the Islamic Internet Republic. The culture of the Virtual United Provinces heavily derived from the existing Dutch Republic.[4]It was first known as the "Kingdom of New Batavia" in 2020, as said in the Constitution of the Fourth Republic.[5]
History
Virtual United Provinces
The Virtual United Provinces, known in Dutch as the Virtuele Verenigde Provinciën, was first founded on 14 January 2007, by Frans. 6 days later on 20 January 2007, was the adoption of the First Constitution. (Click here for the versions of the constitution.) The Revolutionary Council, the provisional government, drafted the constitution. A treaty named the Union of Utrecht was signed between them, the Free State of Antwerp, and the Free State of Ghent. The provinces were in contact with a lot, and the Virtual United Provinces were one of the founders of the Dutch Treaty Organization. (Abbreviated to N.E.V.O., also known in Dutch as the Nederlandse Vedragsorganisatie.) But, due to the really low population, the federal system became unworkable. This caused the central authorities to gain more power.

Republic of the Netherlands
The Republic of the Netherlands, also known in Dutch as the Republiek der Nederlanden, was the successor of the Virtual United Provinces from 11 June 2008/21 September 2009 to 20 November 2011. After the unworkable federal government, the provinces adopted a new constitution on 11 June 2008 that the micronation would be renamed to the Republic of the Netherlands. It was not until 21 September 2009 that everything has been settled.[6]
The Republic of the Netherlands had gone through many crisises, starting with the Breda Crisis, which was a giant, threatening conflict between the Federal Republic of Flanders[7] and the Republic of the Netherlands on 22 July 2009, when Flanders president Hieronymus Erasmus declared annexation of the Netherlands. Thankfully this never happened, but Flanders-Netherlands relations were still tough. There was also an announcement from the president that the entire Netherlands would go with inactivity. Frans also accused Nihill Romez for neglecting the Netherlands' wiki, and he fought back by naming his republic a "banana republic".

The Islamic Internet Republic, also known in Dutch as the Islamitische Internetrepubliek, abbreviated to I.I.R., was the successor of the Republic of the Netherlands. At its peak, Frans and Romez got so angry at each other that the Islamic Internet Republic in May 2010. It was discovered that Romez was couped and lost, being accused as a Batavian trying to undermine the republic. After Romez lost, a new parliament was established, a new constitution was adopted, officially calling it the Islamic Internet Republic.
The Islamic Revolutionary Party and the Fresxa Komenci were the dominant parties of the republic. Al-Jumhuriya[8] is the national newsservice of it. The climax of the Frans-Romez reached months later, when the republic went bankrupt, new elections held the fallen government to a stailmate, and so serious that Salah Al-Lusirni announced that it would be a government-in-exile from now on.

Government-in-Exile
After Salah announced that government-in-exile, the Republic of Mercury offered sanctuary, and Frans joined the exiles. On 21 September 2013 Frans was awarded Grand Vizier. The Islamic Revolutionary Party suffered the Restoration Crisis, and a repaid succession of Grand Viziers. The Islamic Revolutionary Party was divided into two parties, and plans to restore the Islamic Internet Republic.
Islamic Internet Republic Restoration
On 31 October 2020 the Micras Cartography Society accepted the restoration of New Batavia, Redouan van Lucrene was selected Grand Vizier again, and the Majlis-ash-Shoera held elections. A new constitution was adopted in 30 November 2020, officially declaring the Islamic Republic of New Batavia as the Fourth Republic.
Islamic Republic of New Batavia
After the Islamic Republic of New Batavia became a thing, Lucerne started signing treaties with Hurmu, the Thraci Confederation, the Republic of Mercury, etc. Sports where not so popular, but private ice hockey and football games were hosted. But, former exiles grew strong tensions with the New Batavians.[9] Many of the exiles set homes in Southern Corum, but felt neglected. In May 2021 former Islamic Internet Republic citizens in "The-Green", unclaimed areas on New Batavia/Micras, organized protests in Broekszaal, New Batavia called the Marches on Broekszaal.[10]
In the protests, they demanded expansion and more rights. Several more governorates were founded.[11] But, two months later, the Al-Ard Al-Moestasliha and the Dar Al-Hoeriya governorates seceded from New Batavia peacefully, due to linguistic issues, and the Sultanate of Kurum Ash-Sharqia was created.[12]

Government
The Islamic Republic of New Batavia runs as parliamentary democracy, where the head-of-state president is elected for a six-month term. One step lower is the Grand Vizier, which runs the executive branch, approved by the Majlis-ash-Shoera.[13] The Grand Vizier appoints the other people called viziers. The Majlis-ash-Shoera also takes hold of the legislature branch, where an assembly is elected every 4 months. In total there are 100 votes in the assembly. Before a law is passed, they need the advice/permission from the Islamic Diwan of New Batavia. (But non-binding.)
The Islamic Diwan is made up of ordinary members, (appointed by the president and Majlis-ash-Shoera.) extraordinary members, (former head-of-state.) and coopted members. (chosen by the ordinary and extraordinary members.) The Islamic Diwan takes the advisory branch, and at least half of the ordinary members need to be Muslim. The judiciary branch is taken by the Court of First Instance, and the Supreme Court. In 2021, 9 governorates made the local government. Each governorate is hosted by a governor, checked by the central government.
Population
The Islamic Republic of New Batavia's population is at an estimated 24,700,000, a +2.9% growth from 2022. Most people speak Dutch, some speak Arabic, and the minority speaks English. In 2020, when the republic was restored, it only had a population of 1,500,000, due to all of the chaos before the government-in-exile. But, shortly after, the government called all the exiles to return. They settled in the capital city of Lucerne, with a current population of 4,000,000. Some others settled in South Corum. When people saw New Batavia's peacefulness and treaties, in 2021, New Batavia's population grew to a whopping 25,910,000! A +1,627.3% growth from 2020![14]
Some of the population includes peaceful former exiles, with Batavian and Mercurian families. Studies shown that 9,050,000 people that used to be stateless received New Batavian citizenship. After Kurum Ash-Sharqia gained independence, New Batavia sadly lost a large majority of its English speakers, but some decided to stay in New Batavia. This dropped New Batavia's population to only 24,008,000, a -7.3% decline from 2021. It grew again.
Religion
The Islamic Republic of Batavia's main religion is Islam, because the constitution does not mention a state religion.[15] But, it does say that Allah owns sovereignty. New Batavia is known for its religious tolerance for minor religions. Other religions include Nazarenism, the Calbain Faith, Vendasism, Catologism, etc.
Sports
Private sport clubs in the Islamic Republic of New Batavia include association football, and ice hockey.[16] Voetbalbond van Nieuw-Batavië[17], abbreviated to V.B.N.B., is a private sports club that hosts association football, as well as the Nieuw-Bataafse Nationale Voetbalfederatie[18], abbreviated to N.N.V.P. IJshockey Nieuw-Batavië[19], abbreviated to I.J.N.B., is a private sports club that hosts ice hockey.
