The government can be divided into the King of Batavia[3], (Current Frederik II) Prime Minister of Batavia, and the Batavian Staten-Generaal parliament. Elections are hosted.

Batavia is also the main etymology of New Batavia, and participated in some Microvisions. Overall, Batavia and its protector Shireroth are one of the most active on Micras.

Etymology

This section is also explained similarly in New Batavia.

The word "Batavia" is not a made up word like in most names of micronations. It was actually used a lot in European colonies. 'Batavia' derives from Germanic tribes called the Batavi.[4] This eventually evolves to the Netherlands and other European countries. The Dutch named many places after the Batavi, like the Batavian Republic.[5] The name "Batavia", in mythology, comes from the mythical story of the origin of Batavia. According to this mythical story, the Batavians come from the "good island", or as in the primeval Batavian "batawjō".

History

On 9 February 2006, Batavia was created as the Free Batavian States.[6] In Dutch, this would be the Vrije Bataafse Staten.

Beforehand, the principalities that made up the Batavian Territories kept on fighting, until Jodocus van Haltna[7] loosely united them under that name. But all of the states had control of minting currency and domination of the ministries. This led to what is now called the Crash of 1518.[8] (1518 in the Norton calendar,[9] 2006 in the Gregorian calendar) What started as crop failure quickly escalated to the largest financial crisis in Batavian history.[10] This with many other reasons was not resolved until the adoption of a Batavian currency. But by that time, most of the states suffered debt and collapsed, and on 4 September 2006 the monarchy dissolved.

On 4 September 2006, the Free Batavian States were replaced by the First Kingdom of Batavia.[11] People quickly

changed the government to not have as much vandalism, as the central government had a much larger control, and passed more rules. With an inactive queen, Jodocus was put as the head-of-state, but Arkadius I was elected king.[12] More cleanups were made, and Batavia seemed good. Until, disagreements of nobility quickly escalated. This led to the collapse of the nation on 2 December 2006.

On 2 December 2006, the First Kingdom of Batavia was replaced by the Davignon Republic.[13] In this time, it was only pure chaos as the escalating wars and strikers took over many government buildings in large cities. This was due to the death of a child in a work incident in the capital. The Crash of 1518 would be a backup excuse if they said it was an accident. Requests for political reforms spread across Batavia, and the strikers became more radical.[14] The flight of Arikalus I shocked the Batavians, and Jodocus avoided attention. Later, the bloody conflict finally resolved on 28 December 2006.

Second Kingdom of Batavia

On 28 December 2006, the Davignon Republic was replaced by the Second Kingdom of Batavia.[15] To many, this was seen as the golden age of Batavia.

Arkadius II elected an advisory branch called the Lagerhuis, a chamber of nobles, and the Royal Cabinet with prime ministers. It also contained Batavia's greatest expansions. Ashkentaza, Catologum, Benacium, and others got annexed peacefully. But also more violent ways did they annex, like the Gascony War.[16] A conquest to Keltia and Cibola also began, with an economic growth with friendly nations like Shireroth and Flanders. This peacefully ended on 24 August 2011.
