Huma, or officially the Republic of Huma (Legatian: Xela in Humaic, Human: Buŋkuakwa Palboko), is a walled-in enclave and republic in Legatia. As it is holds the capital of Legatia, Legatia City and its citizenry, currently, make up the Chamber of Deputies it is often called the capital republic and the mainland. It has developed its own identity, one that depicts Huma has the fair ruler of Legatia.

It shares borders with Zealandia and the United States, the latter claiming all of Huma's territory as part of its territory. Unlike its macronational neighbour, Huma and Legatia in general is mostly a progressive country with notable influences of the communist movement. Its residents come from the Purdum/Sjöberg family, which make up the original citizenry of the nation, which is the reason for their dominance in Legatia's politics. If the residents move, the republic will automatically change its borders.

All citizens of Huma are also citizens of the United States despite the population unanimously disliking the government and policies of the United States. This is due to the fact that the government of Huma hasn't finished its self-sufficiency project and the birthplaces of the citizens are in the United States without a nation recognized by Legatia claiming them.

Etymology

Its name was chosen so its citizens can be called Humans. The name was chosen by Matt Sjöberg. However, ze has stated that he now sees the name as ironic, due to the citizenry's criticism of the majority of homo sapiens sapiens.

History

The people who now make up the citizenry of Huma first arrived to the land on August 28, 2009. They agreed with the manager of the apartment complex to move to the apartment. At the time they moved with no micronational intentions, as they had not heard about micronationalism. However, in 2010, Matt Sjöberg created a micronation based on Strong Badia.

It evolved from a Strong Badia-inspired nation to a serious nation-state project. With its own flag, currency, culture and national identity. However, this nation gained inactivity after its citizens lost interest in it. The house itself began its history as a geopolitical entity on December 25, 2011, when Huma, then Legatia, declared independence. This was intended to be an Austenasia-style micronation. However, this nation was inactive compared Burkland and only created because Burkland intended to stay an Antarctic micronation.

Burkland, willing to have non-Antarctic claims, annexed Legatia with the consent of the Legatian population on February 24, 2012. It became an ex facto part of Zealandia as Burkland agreed to be a Zealandian sylsa. Its population criticized it being a part of Zealandia and called for a selective foreign policy. Legatians declared independence on June 21, 2012 in response to demands. They also claimed Glencoe, and thus they decided to name the area called Legatia into Huma so Legatia could be the name of the nation containing Glencoe and Huma.

Government and politics

Huma is a republic in Legatia, despite mostly being involved in largely Legatian affairs, it also has a lot of internal family-based politics. Its governor isn't chosen democratically, instead it is a meritocratic system, the one who provides the most services to the family becomes governor. It is also a communal society where everyone contributes to society, with more responsibilities given as a person ages.

Like the majority of households, it has a regularly-updated budget. This budget is under the responsibility of the governor. This is a result of the Human government's commitment to maintaining the place. The children help maintain the place by doing chores, mainly related to clothing and waste disposal.

Political views

The citizenry is 75% left-wing and 25% left-leaning. The most popular ideology is progressivism, which 50% of the population adhere to. One other influential ideology is Marxism-Leninism with 25% of the population adhering to it. The rest of the population is largely politically apathetic with left-leaning views. As with such, Huma is often considered a left-wing republic by citizens.

Political parties

2/3 of Legatian parties have headquarters in Huma, the Centrist Party and the Legatian National Revolutionary Movement. The only political party not to have headquarters in Huma is the Wadonstolian Influentialists. Despite this, 50% of the population are independents. In addition, internally political parties are not seen much on the political scene, even in non-family-based politics.

Council of Elders

The Council of Elders is the de facto name for an informal body made up of the parents of the Purdum/Sjöberg family. Even before its development, its members were the most influential people in the family. They run Human affairs, with the children of the family having little say in comparison.

Geography and climate

Geography and climate are controlled, as it is a man-made structure. The weather is controlled by the Human population and visitors to Huma. The geography is often considered to be built flat. However, Huma does have a volume as it a second floor apartment but most of that volume is occupied by things not built in the structure or air. Patio City is outside but there hasn't been research into Patio City's climate as it isn't seen as a pressing issue by the Human population.

Culture

The people of Huma have little much in the way of a unified culture. However, 75% of the population enjoy Futurama and The Simpsons and a different 75% of the population enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and both groups have established a huge fandom of the shows. With regards to other activities, the people of Huma are divided by those who like such activities and those that don't. The under-age section of the population has a subculture based on the sibling relations of the two children and adult subculture is based on the marriage of the two adults.

In addition, the population enjoys tea as made by Annabelle Purdum, the mother of the family. Also, the family is highly eccentric. Taking off a person's shirt is almost universal in the family, especially during the summer. This is due to body heat and habit. When people warm up, it is with a blanket or a quilt. It has its own football team along with the pan-Legatian football team. It is named Fotbiel in Humaic, Legatian for Footballers of Huma. Still, it hasn't had any organization nor has it ever had a meeting or even a football match. There is a movement to create a native Human cuisine, but this idea is very new and hasn't had much consideration by the republic. However, Huma could be considered to have a cuisine but it is heavily Americanized. The movement says that a pan-Legatian cuisine would be ideal but hard to do at the current time.
